Kate's Law and Republican Sell-Outs

The bill passed 257-167, thanks to 24 House Democrats who had sense. The legislation would let judges increase penalties against illegal immigrants who are deported after being convicted of a crime, and who then reenter the country.

But can you believe it when 7 Republicans voted against it and 3 of them were Florida congressmen who obviously are pandering to the Hispanic vote?

Justin Amash(Mich.)
Carlos Curbelo (Fla.)
Mario Diaz-Balart (Fla.)
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Fla.).
Dan Donovan (N.Y.)
Peter King (N.Y.)
Dave Reichert (Wash.)

Read about it...
Now it's off to the Senate. Republicans will need to get at least eight Democratic senators to pass any immigration or border security bill. It's a shame that an important bill such as this is made political. These elected officials need to do their jobs and make citizens safe.

  2. This law makes perfect sense and shouldn't be clouded by the voters. Any human can see the tragedy of Kate and how it didn't have to occur. There's alot of division among Hispanics and they are very different from one another, I don't see any of them in like with criminals. These politicians will lose the American vote.

  3. I applaud Kate's Law and really hope that one day Republicans will consider the lives of the 20 children and 6 adult lives lost at Sandy Hook just as worthy of the same attention as they have given Kate.

  4. Yes, Sandy Hook was a terrible horrendous evil deed committed by a deranged guy who ended up taking his own life. He did the world a favor when he killed himself. You can't compare a mentally ill person with an illegal criminal alien. Both deeds are despicable but illegal immigration is an entirely different issue.

  5. Two different issues but both tragic acts that resulted in lives lost. In the one case, a Republican congress passed Kate's Law. In the other case, they did nothing and then, in February of this year, Congress voted to GIVE some mentally ill persons their firearms back.

20 children. 1 white woman. And two massively different responses.

    Huge mystery, no?

  6. Will the lies EVER stop with you people? Reading too much MSNBC AND CNN or getting your information from 5 year olds or people who haven't fact checked.

  7. Where did I lie, Lynn? You mean with the February vote?

I'll make it easy for you...it's even Fox News.

  8. Sandy Hook was an inside job, false flag. Wake up people the truth is out there!

  9. It has to do with the 2nd amendment. It is hard to determine who is and who is not mentally ill. Someone with an eating disorder? The rule doesn't take effect until later this year and then background checks will go through the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Social Security will be reporting anyone with a severe mental disability.

  10. 7:50pm makes no sense. Don't play the race card here, you're pitiful. The good news regarding Sandy Hook is the nut and his mother who bought the guns are dead and won't hurt anyone else. The illegal criminals infiltrating our country aren't dead and they're numerous. They play you self hating liberals like a fiddle. Glad you commented, its unfortunately necessary for the thinking public to see the derangement caused by the media. To slap aside a tragedy like Kate with nonsense is deplorable. What if she were your family.

  11. The only thing that was "slapped aside," anon at 4:39, was congressional action when 26 kids and adults were gunned down in an elementary school.

Passing a law when 1 human life was lost and not having the courage to do a single thing when 26 are lost doesn't make sense. I totally agree with you.

All I'm asking you is to question why that happens. And if your answer doesn't include politics, that's why it isn't making any sense to you.

  12. @11:03...your entire comment IS politics. You are talking about Obama's and the liberals backdoor approach and excuse/desire for gun control of some individuals (or all individuals in the future) without due process. I personally believe that anyone who shoots anyone if not for self-defense or fighting in a war is a nut case as I was brought up with morals and God but then, I'm not a medical professional or the court that would decide that. As said, it all involves the Constitution which works for some people and has worked for our country for 241 years. Your against guns lobby didn't work this time.

  13. Should be "you're" against just in case you want to challenge my grammar. :)

  14. "your entire comment IS politics."

    Exactly.

Because of politics, a mass shooting goes unanswered by Congress but a law is passed after one woman is killed.

Because of politics. Nothing more. Nothing less.
