The Senate approved a proposed ballot measure Monday to raise the value of Florida’s homestead exemption.
“If we think that we need to cut taxes … why don’t we just do it, instead of pushing it off on local officials and then blaming them when they increase the tax rate?”said Sen. Jeff Clemens.

People don't realize that we have to make up for those lost funds to maintain the same level of service.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this is a way for the state to push for a state income tax that they would collect and then send back down to the counties and cities once they are starved for funds.
The pity is that tax payers will ALWAYS vote for more exemptions. Even if, like in this case, it is not in their best interest.
Attaching taxes to private property is wrong in every way!
ReplyDeleteIf your house is paid for - you shouldn't lose it for taxes!
Eliminate it and implement a sales tax where ALL PAY and the
Muni's KEEP the lions share. It would knock out a lot of the
lobbyists and the POOR ROI for the money we send to the state
we have to beg for back...PLUS it would cause the elected to
support/promote TAX PAYING BUSINESSES and stop the Non-Profit
advertising azz kissing to look good and actually do some good
for your bosses - consent of the governed/of by and FOR the PEOPLE!
It's about/for US - Not everything BUTT US!
