Promotion of Juan Ruiz to Assistant City Manager for the City of Lake Worth
Juan Ruiz has been promoted from the role of Director of Leisure Services to Assistant City Manager for the City of Lake Worth. Juan, a graduate of Lake Worth High School, has worked in public service for 17 years and will serve as City Manager, Michael Bornstein’s, first Assistant City Manager in the City of Lake Worth.
Juan is being brought on to focus on upcoming projects as the City continues to build on its recent successes. In addition he will manage the City’s Emergency Management Operations. During the transition period Juan will continue to carry out the duties of overseeing and directing the Leisure Services department until a replacement is identified.
“Juan has a true passion and love of Lake Worth. His efforts running a very diverse set of complicated, high profile and difficult operations give him a depth of knowledge and experience necessary for this next step. Juan not only demonstrates on a daily basis his care for the citizens and businesses but also through our major City events such as the Holiday and Veteran’s parades. He understands our challenges and will be a great asset to helping me fulfill the commission’s policy direction and moving the City in the right direction. I look forward to having him serve in this new capacity on my Team.”
~City Manager Michael Bornstein
“I absolutely love this City, the residents and all the cool quirky things that make this City unique. The excitement that we all see on the horizon makes coming to work every day to serve the public that much easier. 2017 marks my 17th year in the public service arena and I look forward to continuing many, many more years serving our residents and ensuring that we’re doing everything we can to deliver a high level of service to the community, as simply put it’s what they deserve.”
~Lake Worth Assistant City Manager Juan Ruiz

I really like Juan, but I do not think that he is at all qualified for this position.
ReplyDeleteJuan works hard, no doubt about it. And he likes our golf course--that's a plus!
ReplyDeleteJuan has always had an attitude problem. Not really wanting to help in ANY situation I have ever brought to him. I think this was an ill informed choice but then I don't work with him every day. Well at least he is a high school graduate.
ReplyDeleteYes, congrats Juan
ReplyDeleteThe Leisure Services Department under Juan Ruiz's direction has flourished!Juan has done a lot for the City and he will do great things as the Asst. City Manager! Way to go... great move for the City!
ReplyDeleteDo great things like tearing down our pool?
ReplyDeleteThey want him out so then they can cover up the whole pool thing as they know he is too stupid to handle the scandal with that. It is easier for them. How sad!
ReplyDeleteHe is likely a kiss up, all the people that move up are always kiss asses, usually the most incompetent and then they move up as they are yes people and kiss ups.
ReplyDeleteSad how things work in our society!
Everything involves politics. If you excel at your job, your bosses should recognize it. I believe in promoting from within.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing that Juan was promoted in order to oversee the very possible pool proposal that could be implemented by this Trio that will be on Tuesday's agenda.
I just don't like his arrogance. He has been very rude and condescending to residents. Hope he does a good job. Will wait and give him a chance.
ReplyDeleteWhat will the new position pay? What does he make now?
ReplyDeleteVery concerned that for such an important position the City did not advertise or conduct a recruitment search. I know of many talented public administrators that would be very interested in the position. Is this a done deal, did the City Commissioners understand what was about to happen? I view this as a sad day for the city. The wealth of talent that could have stepped in to help the Manager is huge. Another lost opportunity.
ReplyDelete@10:49. His salary will now be $135,500
ReplyDeleteWow! He graduated High School. Wow! I guess in Florida that would make him qualified to run for Governor.
ReplyDeleteBottom line, this guy is in way over his head. I'm with the poster above. Why no RFP /job hunt for a person to fill this position.? Juan is not worth that much money from the tax payers.
Well, this position is not in the budget. It makes you wonder what sort of raise Bornstein will get on Tuesday night. At the moment, the CM is making $145,000 a year.
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? $135k????? He was only making $109K before!!!!
ReplyDeleteThese salaries for public servants are getting (have gotten) crazy. I'm sure there are a lot of very smart high school graduates out there but it appears the reason this guy got the job is his loyalty to Bornstein.
