I love Thursdays. Why? I get my Lake Worth Herald delivered and there is always, without a doubt, something that totally ticks me off that is either untrue or missing facts.
Today it is the recent ruling in the Appellate Court on the citizen lawsuit on the Charter Amendment. The article states: A referendum put to the voters of Lake Worth regarding building heights was narrowly defeated in March 2013. The city commission certified the results of the election that the PAC
won by 55.86% that were never moved forward to Tallahassee by the City
Clerk. That margin of win is not insignificant nor should it be described as "narrow." Politico has defined a landslide election as being at least winning by 10 percentage points.
The editor also states that the citizen's effort "would have resulted in thwarting the revitalization of the Gulfstream Hotel." The truth of the matter is--NOTHING in the Charter Amendment EVER thwarted the renovation of the existing hotel. And the owner, Hudson Holdings, could have built to 45 feet on the vacant property.
The Hotel District was designated AFTER the Charter Amendment. HB 537 was signed by the governor three months AFTER the election. And this law reverted back to 2011.
I still believe the people's argument was correct. And all you little political activists who were in the photo in front of the hotel cheering on Hudson Holdings and the City, some of whom actually work for Hudson Holdings, tell the owner to clean up his mess. Let's now see some results.
City clerk Pam Lopez should have been fired for not doing her job a long time ago.The idea that we now govern retroactively in Florida is amazing. What are all these idiot tools going to do when they are fuc$ed over by Hudson Holdings? Michaels must be laughing his butt off at all of these people he has used. Can't wait to see this same jolly group standing in front of the rubble of the Gulfstream Hotel after Hudson Holdings demolishes it and sells the property.Wonder how that front page picture will go.They'll move fast now and nobody will stop them. This group will never admit they were wrong, and will have to spin the crow they'll be eating into Champagne. It certainly will be interesting to see. Also look for top staff members in the city to immediately resign and move away-to live on the "benefits" they got from helping the city to "move forward".
ReplyDeleteIf HH does knock down the old building and build new so what? There will be a brand new hotel in the city. WTF is wrong with that? Only a group of complete idiots would fight that. The same kind of idiots that will keep beating the same old dead horse heights vote. You lost get over it and move on. Stop lying about what happened. You lost 2 lawsuits. Which means. You lost. Falsely accusing people is about all you clowns can get right. So now corrupt staff is gong to start quitting to live on their payoff from Hudson Holdings. How stupid can you people actually be?
ReplyDeleteIf HH demolishes the building (which I believe it will do), then they lied from day one.
ReplyDeleteWe won the heights vote.
we won the bond vote.
So, I think you should "get over it."
If you come over here calling people "clowns" again, your entire comment will be deleted. Thanks so much.
I agree 100% with the above. Pretty low using a dead woman as an excuse to celebrate something like this.Anybody want to start a pool as to what date the hotel will be destroyed? Maybe Piggy Fishbottom can sell the bricksfrom the old hotel as a fund raiser for her love ,Maxwel.
ReplyDeleteI saw the photo. A bunch of grinning hyenas with Serdi in the front row. They all can't be that stupid, can they?
ReplyDelete"The referendum was defeated by a narrow margin" is totally inaccurate. 5 pinnochios for that one. We won the referendum, and not by a small margin. This seems to be a standard method of politicos now to just keep repeating a lie, repeat it louder, and more often, drown out and opposition and voila: you have now manufactured a new "truth" our of something that was false. Old Scottie loves to use this one. I guess his advertising department the shortsighted pelican does too.
ReplyDeleteI really have to wonder about all the fuzzy logic that seems to think that any and all things can be changed retroactively for the benefit of those with the most power at the moment. I believe that is why we have laws. That are supposed to apply equally to those in power and the electors. When Pam Lopez refused to submit the results of that election, that was an illegal act: interfering with an election. Our own Andy did the same by moving the meetings of the ITN to keep them secret from electors till after the election. By the way, where has Pam disappeared to?
The reason we have laws is to uphold our form of government. This is grossly violated by attempting to thwart legal results with the oxymoron of "new laws passed retroactively." Huh?? In other words, if a law gets in my way, all I have to do if I have power, is simply pass another law RETROACTIVELY??!!## This is pure unadulterated HORSE HOCKEY, to be polite. This premise essentially negates ALL LAWS period.
And I find it hard to fathom that now this blatantly false logic mumbo jumbo was to be applied TO OUR ELECTIONS!!. That those in power can at their whim CHANGE THEIR OWN TERMS again "RETROACTIVELY."
This would negate every election and make our government a freeforall. This is exactly how dictators are made, folks. Like Mussolini. That's a far larger picture, but the principle is the same. When those in power can at their own discretion change the terms of that power.
My opinion is that the developers have way too much power over Tallahassee. If the legal rights of those who live in an area get in their way of using everything for their benefit, just pass top down legislation to take away those rights. Kind of looks like what has happened. RETROACTIVELY. This sort of retro is fashionable only to a few. A very rich few...
By this time everyone realizes that the Editor of the Lake Worth Herald lies, can't spell, and was never a good English student. Sad the way they cover the news as they are very biased. As for the City, Lopez was definitely wrong, but face it, she has been there for so long and has always been a cover for the commission. What do you expect? She needs that job and follows orders.
ReplyDeleteThank God the L.W. Herald is strapped for cash so they no longer pollute the neighborhood with their sister rag the Observer.
ReplyDeleteYou don't think winning by 25 votes is a slim margin?
ReplyDeleteYou got your elections mixed up!!!! That was the General Obligation bond. this lawsuit was on the Heights Charter Amendment.
