Today, March 18th is the date. 1pm to 5pm is the time.
Public invited to attend Union discussions with the city on the PMSA and PEU union contracts. The problem that can't seem to be worked out is moving from a 20-year to a 30-year retirement program.
Really so who is playing this game the union or the city? If the public does not have a voice and can not comment what good does it do to have them there? No doubt the CM will actually show up for that meeting instead of just sending his HR Director
ReplyDeleteThe PEU and PMSA unions is trying to work things out with the City. WE recommended having discussions on how to best phase out the 20 years pension, replacing it with a 30 years pension.
ReplyDeleteWe believe that It's only fair for those members that were promised a 20 year and out pension prior to 10/01/2010 when they were employ and were promise it and have been paying into it should be given that opportunity, The City have refused and turn to their lawyer to force their will. NOTE that the PEU and PMSA unions have not brought any lawyers to negotiations meeting.
Due to the long drawing out negotiations meeting we been having with the City and their lawyers we decided that we would enter into a tentative agreement and take it back to our members. That led to the rectification result that you all heard about on 2/26/2016 PEU 65 no and 5 yes PMSA 13 no and 2 yes. We are going back to negotiation on 2/18/2016 open to the public. We want to work together with the City to forge a value-creating agreement to bring a outcome that will leaves both side happy.
Its crazy because the Union doesnt mind doing the 30 year for everyone after 2010 since the employees after 2010 knowingly accepted a 30 year contract. The city wants to illegally force out ALL employees who signed into the 20 prior to 2010 which the union is fighting for their rights. As much as LW puts on a happy public front with the parades, Bbq's, green market...etc They are screwing over the employees and it's about time so much publicity is hitting the media to air out their immoral actions behind the public front. Bornstein is Hated by all of his staff. Im sure a number of people will show up at the negotiation, I know I will be there to just see how much of a snake he really is and his lying lawyer, Mr. Torcivia!
ReplyDeleteBlogger 8:28 / I hope they can reach a agreement. I have spoken with the union, they want to comprimise to make a fair deal for the employees and city. The city doesnt care at ALL about us (the employees) they want us to eat dog crap and pretend its chocolate cupcakes. The city alwats has their crooked lawyer present meanwhile we dont have lawyers on our negotiation team just devoted employees. I hope they can end up reaching a agreement equally fair and move forward. I bet if the city actually shows they care about us this city will start to improve.
ReplyDeleteSo when torcivia and the hr director and their minions say they will not give the twenty year pension to anyone, whether you came under the old pension or this new 30 year one, what will the union do? They don't want to give up the one thing the union is asking for, and the IBEW Union did so well they're on 30 and trying to get off of that. And they brought lawyers to fight for their deal!
ReplyDeleteI can understand the IBEW signing the 30 since most of them work here for a few years then transfer to FPL so MOST of them wont stay in LW long enough anyway. I don't think the city can "legally" force someone out of a 20 pension that was in play when they enlisted in the city... The Union only wants the 20 for the people who were promised it, which is such a small number of people. The city is unwilling to budge so its great that this topic is getting so much publicity. Maybe this black eye will help the employees. I am interested to watch the negotiations and see whose lying to the news... "Mr. Torcivia"
ReplyDeleteHas there been an actuarial study performed?
ReplyDeleteA yearly study which costs the taxpayers in excess of $50,000 is conducted to compare current employee salaries with surrounding cities and Lake Worth Employees are at the bottom for the pay scales yet the city never bumps them up. Only Managers are favored to receive on the sly pay advances. Lake Worth is corrupt
ReplyDeleteWe hope that those who are able to attend on 2/18/2016 negotiation will have the opportunity to see how City manager Micheal Bornstein use is Lawyers as a form of intimidation to force is will on city employees.
ReplyDeleteMicheal Bornstein will not show up he would rather hide behind is HR Director than face those he intend to screw.
Mr Torcivia made it sound like he was a part of these negotiations and that is not true. The PEU/PMSA will be negotiation with Mr Torcivia for the first time. We hope that we are able to have a integrative negotiation. We look forward to build trust while been creative in solving our shared problems.
I thought the classification study that was being referred to had issues and was not completed in full? Money wasted to be sure. An actuarial study for the pension is just as needed. This is the tool that determines whether the city's argument that they can not grandfather in contractually obligated pension benefits to the employees that were on the 20 year pension plan holds water. Between statistical valuation and judgment based on experience, it would allow the union to determine the liability the city cites as the crux for not wanting to go away from the 30 year plan.
ReplyDeleteHere we go. At least now the Public can see first hand how shady the city is and how the Union is trying to compromise.
ReplyDeleteHey congratulations Lake Worth employees ! 127,000 was spent to put the people that spit on you back in office !!!! The Lake Worth employee haters Pam Triolo, Scott Maxwell and Andy Amoroso just got two more years to kick you in the ass! Congratulations !!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's time after this meeting to just STOP working, it can take hours/days to get things done for many trumped up reasons where we as employees use to be dedicated to our work we now could care less and lets see how much satisfaction our commissioners get when they need something or the CM and other loser Directors and Asst Directors. Won't it look funny seeing them out there driving trucks, shoveling dirt, mowing and paving. Oh sorry we don't pave or fill holes not $ now that the CM, HR Dir, Water Dir and Asst Elect Dir got theirs.
ReplyDeleteAll my fellow union employees remember we are a BROTHERHOOD and we stick together, please don't settle for less than we deserve as we are in the lowest pay bracket in the State of FL when compared to other municipalities. We are financially mismanaged and as you all know those that manages us have no clue but are paid in some of the highest pay brackets in the state, CHECK IT OUT. The BROTHERHOOD is treated like we are replaceable at all times.
