The Mandate

Comment Up

Victorious they were.  A mandate is the authority to carry out a policy or course of action, regarded as given by the electorate to a candidate or party that is victorious in an election.

Now that Scott Maxwell has a "mandate," following are his promises to you, the people he serves:

1.  Continue to ignore thousands of voters
2.  Give Hudson Holdings another shot at managing our Casino?
3.  Tax you by bringing back a General Obligation bond to fix the infrastructure? What about a national league ball field at JPP?
4.  Keep pouring millions of dollars ($15 million to be exact) into the Park of Commerce--we need job creation. I learned that from the mayor and Republicans.
5.  Give Hudson Holdings and Steve Michael, owners of the Gulfstream property, anything they want.  After all, they contributed heavily to my re-election. Again, we need job creation...waiters at $7 an hour and busboys, etc. We sure in hell won't get the taxes, so why shouldn't a developer make some bucks and ruin a residential neighborhood not to mention the Charter Amendment.
6.  I will keep telling and yelling at you that crime is down until you believe it. Gosh, you fell for everything else in this past election. Sheep.
7.  Continue to bully everyone who disagrees with me.  No one is immune from me calling you a "racist" or "liar." Besides, if I don't do it, my supporter in the back row won't shut up about it.
8.  Make future decisions to guarantee the failure of our beach fund and continue to twist the narrative...telling everyone that NO one is out to sell the beach. 99 year renewal leases we won't mention.
9.  Lower electric rates so much that eventually ALL our reserves are gone to cover the deficit.
10. Manage to get us into many more lawsuits.
11.  I will always make sure that commission meetings are short (got to hurry down to Dave's) and that the city business is decided anywhere but before the city commission...maybe issues are decided during long trips to the Grand Ol Opry.
12.  Try to sell the Utility or screw it up in some way. 26.4kv anyone?
13.  But whatever we do over the next two years you can bet your bottom dollar (it might be your last) that developers will get rich, you will be taxed more and I will be working on the next campaign to beat you to a pulp.

Feel free to add your own to this list.

  2. Such sour grapes.
Instead of being so negative about what 'you think' MAY now happen, why not practice some self control and wait and see IF any of your dire predictions come true.
What if they don't come true?
Then all your negativity will have been for nothing -

  3. It's definitely NOT sour grapes. It is what it is. Lies and money won this one.

  4. It is exactly sour grapes. Your long list of negatives are not based in fact, but more misinformation and lies. That's right LIES! No one has recommended selling the beach or even leasing it for 99 years. Joann Golden is suing the City so she is the source of that lawsuit. The State legislature passed a law with a retroactive aspect that made the heights referendum null and void. If Ms. Golden wants to suit someone, she should sue the State. There has been no recommendation to sell the electric utility. What are you going to do about Palm Beach County's plan to tax you to pay for infrastructure improvements? Sue them? If you are so unhappy with the way Lake Worth is going, then I suggest you move perhaps to Atlantis.

  5. As I said, LIES & MONEY.
Did I ever say there was a recommendation to sell the electric utility?
did I ever say that there was a recommendation of leasing our casino?
those ideas are out there. It's just a matter of time.
You keep harping on the same old crap that low information voters fell for.
Get a life. And you move to Atlantis.
    P.S. STOP ALL THE LIES.
    Thanks.

  6. Lies, money, vicious negative mailers, backroom deals, legal team seeing if they can get around the law, City mis-Manager crying poor because of his own incompetence-this is what we have had and have to look forward to.
So many voters were there only to vote in the presidential primary and had no idea of who the local candidates were and are. There were over 5,300 voters many of whom were in the dark, much to the delight of the incumbents
The unholy trio had 10 times the name recognition because of their gross amount of contributions that they were impossible to ignore or vote against.

  7. So now the tactic is to say many of the almost 5,400 voters were in the dark. But all the challengers talked about the many doors they knocked on and all the people they talked to. If the challengers shared their thought with all those voters and presented a compelling reason to be the next mayor or commissioner, then the results would have been different. There was no indication on the ballot who was the incumbent for any Lake Worth position so you can't use that excuse.

  8. Their constant glossy mailers got their names out there as did their 3 signs together all over town. Voters saw that, and if they were there for the presidential primary only, voted what they thought they knew.

A door to door campaign may reach 2,000 people if it is constant and diligent for 2 months.

It is cash, much of it from out of town individuals who have something to gain here in "Corruption County", that swung the election in their favor.

  9. It's over...no amount of bitching fussing or cussing can change it..roll with it or get out of the way...be it lies or money or out of town contributors IT'S OVER. They won and nothing you can say or do will change that.

  11. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
You will be put in your place or ignored. Take your pick, loser.

  12. Katie is a winner!

Scott Maxwell is the deranged loser whose verbal assaults and red-faced grousing demean the dignity of the Commission seat.

Yes he won the election but loses the title of gentleman at every Commission meeting.
