Stay out of John Prince Park

Comment Up
Ibis at John Prince Park

“We are not against the Atlanta Braves in Palm Beach County. Just not in John Prince Park. That park is used by people who can’t afford to buy a ticket to a spring training game,’’ said Katie McGiveron, president of the Residents of Lake Osborne Heights homeowners association.

  1. What's next? What if the Braves decide that they want Peanut Island? What if they want to destroy some other park in our County? Disgusting. The only reason John Prince was targeted is because the County Commissioners don't want to take care of a park that "poor people" use. These jerks worship at the alter of money ,sex and power.

  2. I thought the impetus was coming from Scott Maxwell. He's been carrying his bat around for quite some time looking for a ball park he can motor down to on his golf cart. One thing I'll give old Scottie boy, he sure loves that smell of outside money, and giving away our parks. No wonder he's so rich now with all that campaign cash. Should we be asking how safe our homes are? If his richy riches want to take over more territory?

  3. I am impressed with this Joe Capozzi. He seems like a real journalist.
And working for the Post?? Maybe now we can get some real news. Kudos to the Post on this story. Maybe Kevin can stay on vacation...:)

  4. Why no commentary on the fact the park is deed restricted?

  5. Amen, glad you printed this and shared what Katie said. Do you think any of our elected here in Lake Worth like scott will listen to us? We need to stay on their asses and not let this happen. WE do not need more traffic and noise. They are now building all those new apartments on Lake Worth road out that way and now the traffic to get to Congress from the Trirail takes up to an hour to go two miles. I blame this on scott, pam, and andy, traffic is getting worse and worse. At this time, between 4-7pm it takes almost one hour to get from dwtn Lake Worth to Congress on Lake Worth Road as the traffic is horrible here now. Shame on these elected bastards. Save our birds and wildlife, think about the wildlife for once!

  7. Of course they do and we know who they are. Maybe HH even has a piece of the pie.

  8. We have little green space left in our area, and heaven knows from the article I read in the Post the other day about all the snowbirds moving here, and the developers backing people in many of the elections, I am afraid there wont be any left if they are targeting our parks now. John Prince Park is deeded to be a PARK for the people to enjoy, have picnics, parties, walking and enjoying the wild life. NOT TO BUILD A BASEBALL PARK. Yes we like Baseball, but this is not the place for building a baseball park. Scott, take your base ball bat and go home like a good little boy.

  9. Drew Martin and his buddies should be ON this like fly on "", if you know what I mean! Come on folks! It is not just about the greenspace and taking a park away from the PEOPLE. What about the birds and mother nature??? Our county is going for the $$$$ all over and not respecting our few areas we can return to peace in a natural area. HELP, somebody make sure this doesnt happen.

  10. Now you're blaming Pam, Andy and Scott for the traffic on Lake Worth Rd !

  11. Our county is going to make the taxpayers and tourists pay for all of this right now at $110 million minimum.

  12. Yeah, this is just what we need on top of the POC. This corrupt trio still meeting in secret won't rest until they have parceled out all of our public space to their development cronies. It's called payback. I find it disgusting that it seems like most of our reps are on the take and all too willing to give away deeded public land to their outside donors. They don't call us Corruption County for nothing. And yes, I sure do blame all the traffic on the trio; that's what is expected with unrestrained unplanned development. The skies the limit and all that counts is them getting more money. What do you expect if you build $100 million worth of "progress" yearly in 7 square miles?

  13. The $100m is investment into our area - like infill of new houses built on vacant lots, like the new hotel on 10th Ave just west of I-95, and the new town homes off J st

  14. Right. We hear you, Scott, Greg Pam and friends. It's really sad to believe your own BS.

  15. Definition of corruption: Corruption is a form of dishonest or unethical conduct by a person or persons of authority, often to acquire personal benefit.
I believe this defines our city council(with the exception of McVoy and Maier)and our city and county leaders.

  16. The County hasn't gotten approval for the 1% tax hike and they are already overspending on vanity projects and continuing to neglect the basics of quality of life- roads, sidewalks, bridges.
Traffic at 10th and I-95 is out of control much of the day and ridiculous at rush hour but they'll get a traffic "study" to say it's A-OK for more vehicles to be added to the mix.
We the people are discounted and ignored once the County and City Commissioners are elected.
    Vote them out of office.
