"There was so much vitriol and dirt. And these are friends, these are neighbors."
~ AnnaMaria Windisch-Hunt
Well, let's list some of it--

There is a group of obstructional agitators and professional protesters who use their dishonest tactics and financing [what financing? what dishonesty?] to control your city government...spreading misinformation, half-truths and distorting the facts. Their plan is to divide the community; rollback the progress [what progress?] made over the last few years, propose radical ideas [what are they?] that don't add up; skip debates and duck the big questions [all questions were answered] Source: Changing Florida's Future

Frank McAlonan accused of lying about everything when it was just the opposite. Incumbent says he lacks integrity, experience, knowledge and judgement (sic) and even had a small pants on fire gif. Andy Amoroso.
The incumbents were smart enough to have others do their dirty work. I received very few mailers from the incumbents--my name was scrubbed, so there is no way for me to determine if one of them didn't say anything with vitriol and dirt. However, the ONLY dirt in the campaign came from the incumbents. They won on lies, fear and big money.
These are our neighbors, AnnaMaria.
This is for the idiots that think PBSO is going somewhere- During a 12 hour period, from 7 to 7 on 12th ave south ,a heavily traveled road, only TWO PBSO cars drove by. TWO,in a TWELVE hour period.Hello? Obviously there is no patrol going on in the surrounding neighborhoods. Undercover cars? Right. If we don't know there is a police prescence, neither do the crooks!
ReplyDeleteAnybody else read this latest piece of crap fluff put out by Thompson of the Palm Beach pay to Play in favor of the corrupt trio? They all answer to the same developer masters.
ReplyDeleteThank G*d you never had the blessing of having children, what a horrific thought to think they would have had you as their mother! You are like a malignant cancerous tumor to the beautiful city of Lake Worth that is now on the right track and moving forward. If you do not like it so much then just move! Nothing you say is taken seriously by anyone that matters, what a sad, bitter, lonely pathetic life you live.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Annamaria? and you are living in LA LA Land and just made my point. What a phony group. Get in the real world.

ReplyDeleteRead it for yourself.
The problem is there are thousands of people who do not believe that these commissioners who recently were reelected are taking us down any path that is good for us. The developers might like them and we know Hudson loves them. The only cancer are all those living in some glass house here.
ReplyDeleteThat's that crazy guy, mark Parila,,,it's his style.
ReplyDeleteLynn, you need to take down that comment at 1:36. This is a very sick and deranged person. Take it down.
ReplyDeleteTo Anon 1:36 pm
ReplyDeleteLynn would make an excellent mother. She would instill the importance of truth in her children. She would make sure that they investigate and research anything that they agree with or disagree with. She cares about her neighbors and the people of Lake Worth. She is also open minded and speaks to the people. Now you on the other hand, I pray that you do not have children as the way you speak in this blog is so derogatory that you would probably have bullies just like you bullying anyone who dares to be different. I am sure that you are one of the worshippers of the godless trio. Congratulations for being just as big of an ass.
It's staying. I want people to see how this incumbent side operates. You're probably right 2:01 but we know it's a cockroach who posted anonymously. I would suggest to him that I have lived here as long as he has been alive and I'm not going anywhere. It's not this city that I object to--it's just some of the people who are trying to ruin it. The right direction is rather subjective. It depends upon who you are asking--the average person who resides here or the special interests who invested big money into this campaign.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Lynn, take that down. It's over the top nasty.
ReplyDeleteThese quotes came right off of Pam, Andy and Scott's mailers and pacs. Why don't you tell them to get the hell out of town you sick pup at 1:36. I'll even contribute the tar.
ReplyDeleteComment couldn't have come from Mark, unless he had someone write it for him. Not enough grammatical errors in it.
ReplyDeleteBut John, these are your friends ! take down their comments? Why? These are the people that supported Pam Andy and Scott! These are the people that danced around the Maypole at Scott Maxwells victory party! These are the people who had the stupid "Keep PBSO" signs in their yard.Lynn ususally does not post the nasty comments thrown her way by your friends ,John. This is just a mild sample. Sickening, arent they ?
ReplyDeleteThat commentator at 1:36 is a serious lunatic. He must have a very serious medical condition or running around with the bullies too often. Wouldn't you hate to be his mother or grandmother, if he has one.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that you guys that lost think that everyone on the other side is wrong or mean, or crazy, or out to get rich, or in the pocket of developers and all that is wrong. These folks are for the most part just like you only they want the city to move in a different direction. My biggest fault with all of you is that you will not compromise. As mush as you might argue that the other side wants power, so do you. You want the power to control the city as you see fit. The vast majority of the city is blind to all of this and doesn't even care to vote. To say that the people want something is really saying this is what we want who care to vote. Until all of us take a step back and agree we want the city to be a success and want to talk to each other about solutions we all can agree on that benefit both sides, this battle of anger will continue. This is just to nice a place to walk around angry. Maybe it's time to start talking and compromising.
ReplyDeleteTell it to your friends--perhaps they will honor our Heights vote. No compromise on a vote, however.
ReplyDeleteAs far as wanting power, I believe that it is all about the people. Undo influence such as what happened in this election, is sickening.
No one is angry. We just don't like liars.
Goody Two Shoes, the woman who pretends to be neutral said that?
ReplyDeleteLynn,
ReplyDeleteYou certainly sound as if the lies were only from one side.
Selling the beach, 4 story parking garages, 6 story condos on the intracoastal, "secret" meetings, corruption are just a few of the comments I heard from your side. All outright lies.
Then there were the subjective innuendo about transparency, sunshine violations, pay-to-play, all these big corporations contributing and now the Palm Beach Post is in on all of it. These are just a sprinkle.
Your candidates had their attack dogs as well. Arf, Arf.
What I found particularly pleasing is that this side learned from the last election and maybe your side took a little too much for granted. Some of the comments I read here against the incumbents were over the top nasty. The few of my comments you let through were very well articulated and respected your rules. You constantly reminded me that your's is an advocacy blog and as such, my opinions were not welcome.
Thank you for directing me to the stats for property values. You straightened me out and we did NOT increase in property values more than any other city in the County. We were probably 4th or 5th. I stand corrected.
You guys gloated like hell when you got the hair dresser elected over a very involved, educated and qualified incumbent last time. I guess when the shoe is on the other foot losing gracefully isn't an option.
Since this doesn't fit your narrative, it most likely won't be posted. But what's new?
The thing is, Anon at 4:01, that this is BULL. There is no money to be made from preserving our small town feel. There is a LOT of money to be made ... and I mean lots ... by destroying our historic character and building 6 story new buildings along our main streets. There are two sides here. But one of them is driven by SELF INTEREST. Certain people in this town want to get rich from ruining what we have here! The other side is driven by love of the beauty of our small historic town. We love Lake Worth, and don't want what we love destroyed.
ReplyDelete@4:26--Please, and once again, read the policy. I don't mind someone debating who has a different opinion than I do. What I mind is when it is flat wrong. I don't appreciate your coming over here and calling people LIARS, when I know for a fact that they are not.
ReplyDelete"Selling" the beach--the beach complex could be leased up to 99 years. Everyone knows that no one is out to sell the beach...the sand, etc. But turning our beach park over to someone on long-term leases is just about the same thing.
The parking garage at the Gulfstream has now been approved by the Historic board for 4 stories.
The ITN was a secret meeting process. NO one from the public could attend.
Don't know about 6 story condos but anything is possible. Zoning is decided by the majority commission.
We took nothing for granted. The election was just more sophisticated than any that ever preceded this one.
And you don't like me using the word "corrupt." What would you call it when outside interest money directed the outcome of this election and the Republican Party and affiliates did the same in a non-partisan election. Pretty sickening/corrupt I would say.
Maybe that is why we have to infill like the Mayor said. There is no money. Nobody is trying to destroy our little historic town. It can't be done any way. But you do need to replace structures that reached the end of their useful life. And when you do, you need to be able to build in harmony with the surrounding area. In the past, that was not done. One repeating poster here cites the building on Federal between Lucerne and 2nd Ave. North or the Lucerne Condo.
ReplyDeleteThat has all changed by design. The Land Development Regulations that couple with a comprehensive plan that was well thought out eliminated the possibility of another Lucerne ever being built again. (Oh the sky is falling.... it can be changed by three votes!!!!) Not really. You'd really see people coming out of the woodwork to protest.
Getting rich does not come to mind for the reasons to make the Gulfstream successful again. Selfish, maybe. I want to go there again for dinner and a drink.
@5:04--The LDR's can be changed from the Dais.
ReplyDeleteHope you get your wish on having that dinner and drink at the Gulfstream. I would bet it will not be the same historic building that we know today.
Are you saying that a hair dresser is stupid and should not be a commissioner. He sure is better than a gay porno magazine store owner. Ryan's values are sure a lot higher than Andy's. AND the candidates did not send out flyers with a bunch of lies and innuendo's about the incumbents. Your campaign was dirty no matter how you look at it. I was going to vote for the trio until I started reading the crap you guy's were distributing. I was truly ashamed FOR YOU that you people went below the belt. I no longer have any respect for any of the 3 incumbents, which is a shame. And because of the lies that I know were printed I can no longer trust your decisions or you.
ReplyDeleteI think we have been voted to the highest bidder. And I don't think there is anything to be done about this. Money won.
ReplyDeleteI don't see it. I contributed to all three. I think Joann Golden contributed to all three on the other side. Some of her money comes from up Nawth. They also contributed to her three.
ReplyDeleteI went to quite a few fund raisers for the incumbents which were also attended by many of my friends and neighbors who also contributed to the trio. And I am aware of people who live outside the city but have business here who contributed.
So, other than the endorsement of the FireFighters and the Police and Realtors and all the other groups that benefit from having a pro-development, pro-business majority, who are these nasty out of towner "republicans"?
There are no major projects other than the Gulfstream and it has already been approved, that would have changed if the majority changed. So it is going to return to business (pardon the pun) as usual. This was a certain pro-development vote. It follows several years of knocking down old garbage and building new housing. It seems we want that general idea to continue.
No hi-rises. No condos. No "private" clubs on the beach. But SOMETHING needs to happen over there to get the other half of the top floor rented and re-do the pool. We can't even pay ourselves back for the work that was done. So it may take a few years.
Good thing they have roads to keep them busy for the foreseeable future.
