Repair Pothole to save other Drivers

Wednesday I drove through a deep pothole on First Avenue South in Lake Worth. Something started rattling. I spent 3 hours yesterday at the dealer while they discovered what was broken. It will probably cost about $100 to fix and by the time it is done, will have taken 4-5 hours out of my life because of this shabby street surface.

My taxes increased by over $450.00 this year. I feel it is reasonable to expect what will be a $35 street repair to be done to prevent others from the same inconvenience.

  1. Good Luck Laurence as we all know that all the executives and people who got promotions with high pay increase have drained our $ resources and now we have the same non caring idiots getting fatter (if that's possible) while sitting on the commission making senseless decisions.

  2. Now that Maxwell called in all the heavy hitters and he has a mandate, watch for another bond. This time they will be smarter with it.

  3. Those potholes are nasty- from what I was told, they have to be reported to the city for repair? On a side note, it makes me nervous to fix the streets- people already drive too fast on them, my street seems to be a race course at times.

  4. Rather than pay for car repair due to pothole damage, can streets get together and fill the holes with something until proper maintenance is done?
Rocks? pebbles and sand? there must be something we can fill them with to make them less deep, right? Even if it only lasts a while...
Would be so great if we could be proactive on this while the city finds $$ to fix them!

  6. Hit a pothole on 6th Ave S between Federal & Dixie about 3 weeks ago.Upon examination I saw my tire had a large nipple on it and the rim was scraped with black. A few days later that tire blew while I was driving and I had to buy a new tire! Tires not even old! Glad it didn't happen while I was on I-95! Please fix!

  7. I believe there was a place where an
    'artist' was painting penis shapes
around them. They were fixed pretty quick!

  8. I was told by one gentleman who had actually repaired the potholes in front of his house three different times that the city now has forbidden him to do so. I'm sure they will address the needs of the citizens just as soon as the Park of Commerce, and rewarding developers is completed. Y'all voted them back, now we're really Moving Forward. Yeehaa!!

  9. I received a letter back from a gentleman on Lake Osborne drive who bikes everywhere. And he's had to deal with approximately 35 flat tires between the pot holes and broken glass in the roads. I know I hate getting a flat in my car--but at least I don't have to walk or push it to a repair shop. That's just plain nasty.
I know many in our city for whom a bike is their main form of transportation, many are veterans, and certainly not rolling in cash. I think we really need to be concerned about all of our citizens.

  10. The City has the money! They just choose to spend it on shit that isn't has important. Everytime I hear about another consulting fee job to gather info it makes me boil, use that money on the worst streets at least. This is so bad in some of the poorer sections of town but it is even in the higher taxable areas. This is an emergency fix CITY OFFICIALS. FIND the money and just do it! So embarrassing yet they want to fix the POC first with the excuse that it will bring in tax money. Well....we won't see that tax money for years and in the meantime the streets are getting worse and worse. What an embarassment to invite my friends to our neighborhood.

  11. Went to Lake ave last night, it was dirty and drab, tried to go to a restaurant, couldn't because all tables were full of sober house kids and their handlers, Lake Worth's premier industry. A city can be vintage but sharp, look at PB.

  12. But the downtown merchants love Andy. What has happened to our downtown? If you aren't a boozer, forget it. Personally, I am not crazy about too many of the restaurants--and bars/nightclubs are the main attraction. Who needs that?
It seems that every week the street(s) is roped off for some event. It's beyond absurd.

  13. if they are not boozing they are at the kava bar if your in rehab----why----they get fu----ed up because a blood test doesnt show that crap---everyone stop in there after 11 pm and see for yourself what goes on in this run down city taken over by drug addicts---remember the owner of the kava bar stated he was a herion addict and a steroid addict who went to prison---these are the types of businesses the city lets in --and it will be the downfall of down town its already is---
