Bull from the Bullies

Comment Up

The Gang of Three, The Trio, The Visionaries--take your pick. They are still full of it.

They just sent out a letter signed by all three of them expounding on supposed accomplishments. Is this letter even legal--combining their campaigns in this fashion? The problem, is--everything written in it is a lie. Is this what politicians do the best? And these low information voters believe the bull from the bullies. As I've said before, it's the guy who screams the loudest or distorts the facts...sort of like a Donald Trump approach to politics...right in your face...he's the one who gets the attention. We have been taught to trust our elected officials and don't expect the opposite.

I think this letter is ridiculous. Here are the facts:
  • PBSO was increased this year by 2 crossing guards...not deputies patrolling our crime ridden neighborhoods.
  • A $700,000 savings to PBSO…over how many years? Not true. The facts are on page 3 of the latest budget:
  • 2012/13--$14,737,944
  • 2013/14--$14,818,565
  • 2014/15--$15,306,633
  • 2015/16--$15,019,483
  • Overall, they have spent $281,539 more in the years shown above and crime has escalated.
  • Their electric rates are not some of the lowest in Florida even though the base rate has been reduced. They are still in the top tier of overall rates. I have written about this on so many occasions. Click here for the proof
  • They got us into the Siemens contract for 15 years. We are paying a freaking fortune in interest until 2031 which comes to over 1/3rd of the principal to replace items that in some cases will not live the life of the loan.
  • This lowering of building heights they claim to have done really annoys me --“to preserve our small town charm,” especially when they totally ignored our Heights Charter Amendment and voted in 20 more feet for the Gulfstream Hotel.
THIS LETTER is a bundle of lies and just some of the reasons why we need to change this dais. THEY are out to con the public and are the BIGGEST "cons" ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET or ever to hit the City of Lake Worth. And that's a fact!

Is this really who you want leading our city?  Take a look around and ask yourself, is our city better today than it was when these incumbents first took office?  They like to tell us that it is but we know better. Is there more crime?  Are there more potholes?  Is there more slum and blight in spite of the 44 or 100 ordinances they claim that were passed to help code enforcement?

  1. Pm, Scott and Andy have secret meetings together at city hall. They were recently at a fundraiser at that bar on J Street, all of them together. Their signs are all placed together around town. Now they have combined their campaigns to send out a campaign letter full of crap? It all, if not illegal, is unethical and they need to go. Vote them out.

  2. Remember the banner on the Gulfstream?
It was said the fine was basically 'worth it'!
They write laws they expect you to follow but
when it comes to them - the same rules DO NOT APPLY!

Vote them OUT OF OFFICE and send the message:
We ALL obey ALL the laws and do not get to choose!

  4. LOL. Would love to see what cute little person this is. Debate the facts, not what I look like. You can't do that...what a pity...what a liar.

  6. It's funny that this three headed monster is telling folks that their opponents are trying to spread fear, while the incumbents go around telling everyone that the city will fall apart, the police will leave, and homeless from all over the world will come to take over our town if you don't re-elect all three of them.

Not only are they some of the most corrupt city officials in the country, they are arrogant enough to flaunt it all over town. Anyone who would print bold faced lies on their mailers obviously doesn't have much faith in the brains of their constituents

  7. Have you ever noticed how unethical people always seem to attack others for the very same things they themselves do? Cheaters accuse others of cheating, thieves accuse others of stealing, and now the gang of 3 who never met an ethics violation they didn't love to do--are now accusing the challengers of fear mongering and innuendo!!
WHILE THEY ARE DOING THIS VERY SAME THING in this (chuckle) information (LIE) campaign letter which by the way PROVES they are meeting in secret and most likely on our dime to print their own propaganda.
How admirable and law abiding can you be when you meet in secret as a group in City Hall (against the Sunshine Law) and when discovered by a citizen SLAM THE DOOR, YELLING "CARA JENNINGS IS HERE, CARA JENNINGS IS HERE!!" It's almost comical. I imagine hysterics like the Disney cartoon depicting the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere: "The British are coming, the British are coming!" But here it's AAacckk! SLAM THE DOOR, A GASP CITIZEN IS HERE AND SAW US MEETING IN SECRET!!! HORRORS!! CALL THE COPS!!! WE HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED doing what we do best: MEETING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS.

  8. Piggy at 9:02, you always have baggy drawers at city hall. Why don't you go to World Thrift and dress better?

  9. I was trying to figure out where the comment from 9:02 came from. How does a haircut figure into the topic?! I thought maybe it was someone who could not hold a train of thought? or was confused? Ooops, I guess that was supposed to be an insult to someone--WTF does that have to do with anything being discussed? Oh well, have a nice day, get a life, whatever--

  10. I would still love to know how many people drinking their free booze and Koolaid could be talked into registering as local voters when they are registered to vote in another state. Any bets? Is there any way we could check on that? The news stations have uncovered that there are many claiming homestead exemptions in two states. Since this is a national primary--that's FRAUD, and highly illegal.

  11. Didn't they vote to raise the building height of the gulf stream? Keeping the small town charm huh

  13. I don't think anything is "psycho babbling," @11:23. We're just mad as hell for the overall and constant lies out of the mouths of bullies and peoples such as yourself who have no clue. You have a very nice Monday as well.

  14. Anon @9:43, are you nuts? What are you smoking? "The most corrupt city officials in the country"???
I am reading notes of desperation on this blog lately regarding the incumbents.
And why is their campaigning together inciting all these "unethical", "illegal" (??) comments.

  15. this seems akin to the mailers they sent out, using tax payer money no less, during LW2020.

I don't know if this illegal as the print is hard to read on my screen, but pretending to send our official letter as elected officials when its really just a campaign letter

  16. Interesting to factual information about the things said in the letter. My neighbor received the 3 person letter and was turned off by elected officials collaborating in that way. It might be legal, but it is not right. The sunshine law is a requirement, but personal ethics in all areas of an elected officials life are a choice. These 3 seem to not have high ethical standards.

Also, they should add references for where a voter can look up the "facts" they put in the letter. Voters are not dumb, anyone can say they did something, show me the law on the books, show me the crime data and then you have my vote.

All this said, I hate the photo with X's on their faces, maybe there is a better way to visually show your opposition.

  17. Anyone who wants my vote needs to reference the facts in their mailer. We are not fools, politicians say whatever they want. Show me the policy, the crime stats, the data and then you have my vote. Thank you for researching the issues and giving the facts behind the claims they are making.

Also, the letter might not be illegal, but it shows poor ethics to campaign in this way. I want ZERO tolerance for unethical behavior. Meeting behind closed doors, walking out in unison during public meetings, signing joint letters all show a lack of respect for the Sunshine Law.

  18. Would any of you with kids allow them to be bullied?
The Mayor has called US liars from the dais and she
allowed Maxwell the vice mayor to call US Racists
Not Once but TWO times at TWO separate city meetings!

The Mayor will not allow McVoy to address the public
as she freely rebuts them at will! It's a sick & twisted
game they play. Someday the same chit will hit the fan
and they will see how they created/promoted project
"SHUT UP"! It will be rather nice to see how well they
take it when they return to 'joe citizen status!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Letter not illegal, paid political ad by all three, no city funds involved

As far as the so-called secret meeting when McVoy brought Cara Jennings into the room prior to he commission meeting, it's a standing dinner that commissioners can dine before the commission meetings where all commissioners are invited to join. There were others there so we could not have been a secret meeting .

    ReplyDelete
  20. if one with a brain reads the letter they would realize
the content is about items that are coming before them
as sitting commissioners - so how does one get around
sunshine laws to create this letter?

    ReplyDelete
  21. If they had nothing to hide, why slam the door and run around yelling when they have been seen together. Just because they have been discovered. Dark and dirty things happen behind closed doors. That is the exact reason why the Sunshine Law was created. That's why only one commissioner was allowed to be on the ITN. And if you want a really big laugh, Scott Maxwell at the last Candidate Forum, now is saying that "any one at all could have attended those meetings (the ITN)." Now how many of you remember our invitations or any public notice?? Nada, because there was none and it was all hush hush and private. Like WW and Andy said: "We can't let this get out...before the election."
