UPDATE: resignation letter received @2:33pm See below
also see the PBPOST ARTICLE that came out at 1:02pm
No sooner is a finance director hired, they are fired or they see the light? No one can find any meaningful information in our Budgets...you have to hunt for it and then you just never know if the figures are correct as mentioned during the budget process. The external auditors depend on information given to them from the specific departments. Ultimately, the finance director is responsible for correct projections and correct numbers for the audit. But overall, the buck stops with the city manager.
Nerahoo Hemraj started his employ with the City of Lake Worth on February 2, 2015.
He "resigned" (actually he was terminated) on October 30, 2015. I have requested a copy of his resignation letter. Once received, it will be posted.
UPDATE: Resignation letter
Prior to Mr. Hemraj, Steve Carr filled in as interim finance director after Douglas Wood went missing in the middle of the night.
Douglas Wood was hired on January 30, 2014.
He was terminated in July 2014. Was he fired because he revealed the true cost of the General obligation bond money grab.?
They don't last long in the City of Lake Worth and you have to wonder what is going on.
Are you kidding me??? WTF?? Is this the same gentleman, Mr. Hemraj, that calmly reasserted the budget numbers for the beach at the last meeting? The same meeting when Chris McVoy asserted the truth; while Scott Maxwell proceeded to froth at the mouth at any intimation that the beach could at any time have a balanced budget? Follow the money and you usually find the root of the problem. Has Maxwell's bang bang silver hammer once again been used to slam down any preposterious notion of truth in budget? He was behind hiring more lifeguards etc. to put the beach back in the red. He seems very enamored of the color red at the beach especially if it turns to green for Hudson Holdings. This certainly stinks like dead fish. We really have to get rid of Scott and his corrupt cronies so we can keep our beach. That was just too fast for everything to be above board. How can we get to the bottom of this because it sounds like a very salient election issue?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the City of Lake Worth, with its own utility and many departments is a little more complex than the corner convenience store.
ReplyDeleteOh, you think, anonymous at 11:03? That's why we hire the best. How come no audit of the utility has been done by our internal auditor?
ReplyDeleteHave you asked him? I'd like to see that as well.
ReplyDeleteThe public wanted more lifeguards due to the popularity of our Regional beach. They had a record number of rescues last year, it's very important to protect human life, wouldn't you agree?
ReplyDeleteIt's not complex. Time consuming and laborious? Yes. But not complex.
ReplyDeleteWe have to be able to pay for things that we "want." When you add expenses with NO additional revenue and intentionally go into the RED to prove Maxwell's case that our business plan is flawed, well, what can I say.
ReplyDeleteI would also say, have swimming hours clearly posted at our beach...and then if there are no lifeguards, swimming is at your own risk.
First of all, Mr. Bornstein ( I mean Anon at 11:03) loosen that bow tie of yours. It's cutting off the oxygen to your brain.
ReplyDeleteWonder which employee Dunderhead typed this letter up for Mr. Hemraj to sign. Pretty glaring error.Something is wrong in this town. These people like Mr. Hemraj are professionals ,so when Maxwell or the city Manager tells them to play fast and loose with the truth, they get the hell out of here. The Governor needs to step in with an official investigation.
In yesterday's article in the Post it also cites Chris McVoy's complaint at Sept. 15 meeting for taking $8 million from the self-insurance budget to balance the budget. That $8 million number sounds very familiar. Now isn't that exactly what we tax payers are paying toward the (please show proper reverence here) PARK OF COMMERCE?? (Please kneel here) So let's do the math equation: it's absolutely OK to borrow $8 million for POC. And if you have the audacity to assert real budget numbers in an open City Council meeting that Scott takes issue with--(BAC) Bornstein smiles agreeably, Scott goes rabid, and we write up your resignation letter complete with typos and kick you out for being (gasp!) honest and conscientious. That gentleman was so polite and correct. No good deed goes unpunished, huh? This should be remembered at election time. We need honesty and transparency-- desperately.
ReplyDeletei think someone needs to send letter to state --about the serious state of emergency in this city that is getting worse in every way---everyway
