Republican candidates win - CNBC moderators lose

Comment Up

I for one, could not stand the CNBC moderators last night.  They were stupid, sarcastic, wise azzes  and downright rude...just plain unlikable and that was their objective. Every candidate did a great job answering their often times demeaning questions.

I had a few favorites for the night--Marco Rubio, Chris Christie and Ted Cruz.

Then came a question asked of Cruz by Quintanilla--

"Senator Cruz, congressional Republicans, Democrats and the White House are about to strike a compromise that would raise the debt limit, prevent a government shutdown and calm financial markets that fear of another Washington-created crisis is on the way. Does your opposition to it show that you're not the kind of problem solver American voters want?"

Cruz's answer:"You know, let me say something at the outset. The questions that have been asked so far in this debate illustrate why the American people don't trust the media. This is not a cage match. And, you look at the questions: 'Donald Trump, are you a comic-book villain?' 'Ben Carson, can you do math?' 'John Kasich, will you insult two people over here?' 'Marco Rubio, why don't you resign?' 'Jeb Bush, why have your numbers fallen?'

How about talking about the substantive issues the people care about? Contrast with the Democratic debate, where every fawning question from the media was, 'Which of you is more handsome and why'?

Let me be clear. The men and women on this stage have more ideas, more experience, more common sense than every participant in the Democratic debate. That debate reflected a debate between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. And nobody watching at home believed that any of the moderators had any intention of voting in a Republican primary. The questions that are being asked shouldn't be trying to get people to tear into each other. It should be what are your substantive positions."

The debate was won by Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Chris Christie, in that order. The CNBC moderators did not concentrate on Trump and consequently his numbers might fall today. Also, today Rand Paul will be filibustering the new debt ceiling bill on the Senate floor--another stand-up guy even if he does like marijuana...can't wait.

  1. Cruz slammed those bastards right down. Bush came off as a wimp. Rubio was brilliant. Trump, not too hot especially when he was talking about bankruptcy. Carly was excellent too.

  2. Republicans have the best candidates. Can't even imagine being a Dem these days and having to pick either of the top 2. When are they going to wake up. Hillary is a liar, fraud and self opportunist. Bernie....well look how well his socialist countries are faring. Would you want to live in any of those places compared to the USA???
