Steven Michael - Blast from the Past

Comment Up
Fifteen months ago, Steven Michael made this announcement
and John Szerdi was still a city commissioner:

A Wes Blackman public video

Unfortunately, NOTHING has been done on this property other than to accumulate a few homeless, an occasional code complaint and a lien. Fast forward to today--John Szerdi got defeated; Wes Blackman resigned from the Historic Board and works for Hudson Holdings and nothing has been revitalized nor has new life been given to this historic property.

In yesterday's PBPost propaganda piece for the city Kevin D. Thompson continues to get it wrong. He, once again, omits the fact that the $6 million is money that we borrowed from ourselves to rebuild the casino and it has nothing to do with the city's propaganda that implies that we are having a hard time paying it back. The City has made this decision to spend the money on other things. They want it to look as if it is failing. We are paying back the loan, just at a reduced rate and at our discretion.

  1. Szerdi was probably on their payroll back then. How long has Blackman been working for these bums?

  2. Blackman has been working for them since last year.

  3. Blackman, sneaky and twisted. This is the sort of person that is now in power within our city. No wonder people were complaining about coming before him on the HRPB.

  4. Free club and spa for residents? This is the first I've heard of that.

  5. Lynn, how come you don't correct the above anon stating Blackman is in "power" on the HRPB?

Di Michael say when it would be done?

The commission "decided" to use the agreed payment of other things? Like what? Keeping the city afloat?

You really are grasping at straws.

  6. Well in this upcoming budget the city is giving raises to ALL employees that will cost us double what we are receiving in revenue, anonymous. That is one example but you really need to be up top of what is going on so that you don't need to ask a question like that.

As far as Blackman is concerned, the poster said that he is now in power in our city. they didn't say his power was within the Historic board, just that he's in power. I believe that to be a true statement.

No, Michael did not say when it would be done but at the meeting I attended at Pineapple Beach NA, it was intimated that renovations would be fairly immediate and that the hotel would be opened in 14 months.
    His words:
Phase 1 will begin with the interior demolition expected to be completed by the end of 90 days. The plan is to leave the hallways intact and preserve as many historical features as possible such as the lights and floors. It will have 97 rooms with a two story lobby. The roof-top nightclub, being designed by an architect from Atlanta, will be enclosed with glass in order to insulate the sound and it will have some sort of roof enclosure. There will be a fine dining restaurant, a spa and pool deck and up to 10-15,000 square feet of retail. He said that the hotel will be opened in about 14 months.

In phase 2, the plans are for building a 4 story 250 car parking garage on the vacant lot as well as a 60 foot addition that will have another 75 rooms/apartments. There is no start date projected for this phase.

  7. HH has now put out its political signs on public rights of way. Mr. Bornstein, why are you allowing this? Why is this corruption allowed?

  8. Why is Bornstein allowing this?? Can't you imagine that he too is right in HH back pocket?? On their payroll...who knows. But he certainly went to a heck of a lot of trouble to finagle this bizarre "ITN" to make sure it was conducted OUT OF THE SUNSHINE. And if you can't guess, now isn't he the perfect "conduit" behind the scenes. This whole scenario took lots of planning going WAY back to orchestrate. Including dragging in the Inspector General's office. Very disturbing to think that office can be bought and sold too.

  9. Anonymous 1:59 PM, you mean signs like the red signs that say something like Keep You Hands Off Our Beach We Want It To Deteriorate & Lose $$ Like The Old Casino Did?

    ReplyDelete
  10. @2:50--the red signs were paid for by the grassroots--people with nothing to gain but just keeping our beach out of the hands of developers who have A LOT TO GAIN. The red signs were and are on private property unlike Hudson placing their signs on city property.

No one wants to lose money and guess what, we are NOT losing money in spite of what the city government wants to tell you. Do you still believe in fairy tales? Why do you want to screw up our beach?

    I'm still asking "why" mayor.
