The Milestone

Comment Up

Yesterday Lynn's Little Bit of Trivia hit the 2 million mark. For a little local conservative blog, I was not sure that I could do it. When it was started, I was getting 50 hits a day. Readers from Lake Worth enjoy a perspective that may not always agree with City Hall. We try to keep up on the facts and attend every city commission meeting.

There are two distinct political factions in our city and one other faction that is not too vocally prominent--that of the conservative middle that I like to call the silent majority. These are the people I think about when I am writing as I know that I will never make a dent in the mind of the "growth at any cost" crowd or the atheist socialist crowd, the liberals and far-left.

Lake Worth is overwhelmingly a "progressive" city loaded with Democrats that don't seem to agree on the really important issues facing our city or country or living within a budget that they control. There is constant in-fighting and back-stabbing and everyone is "right." There are liberals who won't admit the truth on policies they hate when it comes to their own city...It's sort of like a 'love it or leave it' attitude. Illegals have taken over, homeless all over the place and crime galore. They think it only affects the western side of the railroad tracks, out of sight, out of mind, and then they tell you to your face that they love Lake Worth and its diversity but wonder why their property values are stagnant or why retail business is not re-locating here fast enough.

It's been interesting writing this blog and I want to thank all my readers even those who keep me on my toes and crack me on my head every now and then. There's a lot in which we agree and just enough diverse political opinion to make it all worthwhile. Sometimes it seems that issues are impossible to solve. It's like that snowball rolling down a hill. It gets so huge and out of control and then the people suffer. Politics is, after all, what makes the world go round. Leadership is the key.

  1. Lynn, thanks for your blog. I read it everyday and I like to keep up on what's going on in Lake Worth, my second home. See you in about 4 mos.

  2. Blackman is constantly attacking people in this city. Thanks for just writing on the facts and not copying from Tom McGow's old blog. Enough is enough and he must have something terribly wrong with him to have to resort to bringing everyone down as he does. He lost credibility with me years ago.

  3. There is a blogger in town who is the Shock Jock of Lake Worth politics.

I have asked him to stop using my photographs as they are copyrighted but he continues to do so. Now he is even writing comments over them--a total 'no no'. I have asked him to stop his screen shots and taking comments out of context and to refer to the actual blog for reference. He doesn't do that either. He continues to personally attack other Lake Worth citizens and brings up a twisted narrative of the past just like it's today. He changes facts to suit his view on his world.

If it weren't for Lynn's Little bit of Trivia, he wouldn't have anything to dwell upon or elaborate upon or just plain lie about.

The Common Ground Church is still praying for him. Those people are a whole lot nicer than I.

  4. Thanks for giving a reasonable opinion on Lake Worth but I don't always agree with you on President Obama. Lately though, his decisions have been awful.

  5. Congratulations! You are a good journalist and don't need to copy others and rerun old postings. Other site isn't worth reading as he isn't credible anyway. Hardly anyone even responds to his gibberish.

  8. Congratulations Lynn on your 2 million hits. I read your blog every day. I also scan Blackman's, but rarely read it.

  9. The city issues aren't conservative or liberal, there are dems on both sides and repubs on both sides.

  10. Thanks, Lynn, for the great anonymous comments you post and the way you edit the others!

Will you be the leading force behind a White History Month in Lake Worth? Every one else has theirs so, you know, why not? LOL.

Bring the Confederate flag with you because I know how proud you are of Southern heritage!

  11. @9:32. Wes, thanks for your comment.

First of all, I can't edit comments. What I can do, however, is simply NOT post it.

Next, as far as writing comments to myself, I rarely do that and what I usually find is that the accuser is usually doing what he accuses someone else of doing himself. That sentence is poorly written but you get my point.

Next, I'm not from the South but I do honor history, good, bad or indifferent. You revise it and try to change it. History is what it is and the Civil War was 154 years ago. Get over it. If someone wants to fly the Confederate Flag, so what?

  12. Lynn I read your blog, and your lament about everything ending up politically (ie: misinformation publicized for a cause) and becoming a snowball gathering size as it rolls down the hill...won't you agree that you are one of the snowball pushers?
Perhaps unwittingly, perhaps just b/c your format allows you too...???

  13. Well, I speak my opinion and state the facts, something liberals just can't seem to do. Is that being a snowball? If so, let's call it a snowball for truth.
