Republicans opposed the decision and continued to call for repealing the law. U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., who is running for the U.S. Senate in 2016, tore into the decision as “interpretive gymnastics” and doubled down on his support of repealing the law.
“The Supreme Court's interpretive gymnastics means that millions of Americans will continue to be burdened with increased premiums, high deductibles, and fewer hours, or else face stiff tax penalties,” said DeSantis. "We must repeal Obamacare and replace it with patient-centered solutions that actually make health insurance more affordable, promote small-business expansion and job growth, and relieve bureaucratic burdens on doctors and patients.”
Judge Scalia said: The majority used “interpretive jiggery-pokery.
Dude that's going to be a tough hill to climb… You got every major insurance Company, the majority of physicians, hospitals and healthcare facilities around the country thrilled that they are getting paid for their services with an ever-growing population of "covered" patients. Have you noticed the record profits the insurance companies are announcing?
ReplyDeleteYou might find it jnteresing to know that if the ACA was overturned, the insurance section was predicting a 300% increase in premiums as a result of possibly losing the healthier customers and getting stuck with the more unhealthy and those with life challenging, pre-existing conditions.
Why not spend all that energy… In more productive ways like finding solutions for all of our infrastructure problems like falling apart bridges, where the majority of our commerce and your food gets transported upon.
Dude?
ReplyDeleteRegarding insurance premiums, the prediction is that the worst is yet to come. Rate increases could go as high as 85% in some areas. Stay tuned as this thing gets totally rolled out by 2020. There will be nothing affordable with the AFFORDABLE CARE ACT. The government will subsidize more and more citizens going forward.
Judge Scalia is a dude! And that's who you quoted.
ReplyDeleteAll I know is when people without insurance went to the ER or hospital before we all still ended up paying that bill… our public hospitals have been on the verge of bankruptcy for decades beside of it and in the end, my tax dollars still hit shelled out to support that indigent care at grossly inflated prices.
Now call the expense is actually lower because these people can they get preventative care at a physicians office, and don't end up presenting themselves with the flu at the ER at 10 times that cost.
Good luck finding a doctor. Some are convinced that it is "socialist" and an "unconstitutional" government takeover of the health care system that will increase the cost of health care, decrease the quality, and entrench a new entitlement. Some of us or perhaps i should say, "many' of us do not believe in socialized medicine particularly insurance that is anything but affordable.
ReplyDeleteDo you have Obamacare, anonymous at 8:57?
As a matter of fact, I DO NOT have ACA coverage. I am blessed to be covered fully by my employer; who happens to be a large medical practice and who has seen a 30% increase in patients due to ACA. The doctors in my practice are rather thrilled by it all and continue to welcome new patients to their practice. Don't you care about the health and well-being of other citizens?
ReplyDeleteOMG what is happening? First Obamacare gets a pass, then they are taking down the confederate flag and now gay marriage is the rule across the land. WTF ARE WE TO DO???
ReplyDelete10:27--I guess the doctors are thrilled by it all--more patients and less time to spend with them and more money to buy that Mercedes.
ReplyDeleteI was brought up in an age where people didn't expect everything from the government nor were they given anything by their employers other than a paycheck for hours worked. I never had health insurance for half my working career provided by an employer. I didn't go around moaning and complaining about it and worked hard to elevate myself to a better position that did provide benefits.
Ethics and integrity and personal responsibility on the job will end up reaping benefits in the workplace. Having things handed to you along with government subsidies will never allow you to rise above the entitlement mentality.
@10:39...can't comment on that one other than to say LOL at you. That was a joke, right?
So I guess the Supreme Court got it wrong 3 times in a row...
ReplyDeleteMaybe we'll have more weddings on the beach and in the ballroom! Yea!
No they didn't. They got it right all around and now even on gay marriage. They got it right for the majority of the people, ALL people. Maybe Fox News might think this, but they are an elitist one-sided conservationist pro-Republican tv news station. They do not represent the majority by a long shot and do not represent ordinary people in the USA. Thank GOD we have a Supreme Court that at least looks at all sides and represents the majority of the people in this country. What they have done for ESE popluations, gays, and the common man are right on target.
ReplyDeleteFour justices didn't think so.
ReplyDeleteThis was a sad decision because it enabled the Supreme court of the united States to show that they do not interpret the law. They now write it.I am happy that my gay friends can get married in every state, but this was NOT the way to do it.I defend gay rights, but what about the religious rights of faiths like the Roman Catholic church and the Muslim faiths? Will Imams and Priests in America now have to marry gay couples against their beliefs??
ReplyDeleteFrom the way that I understand it, churches, mosques, etc. are not affected by this re-writing of what marriage is and do not have to marry couples of the same sex. It will only apply to government court houses--that sort of thing.
ReplyDeleteFour Justices still was the minority opinion. You lose.
ReplyDeleteNewsflash… That's right everybody's religious freedoms are still intact.
ReplyDeleteIf some pastor does not want to marry somebody, they don't have to…
There's plenty of welcoming churches and synagogues for our gay brothers and sisters Who wish to marry to do so in their chosen house of worship.
@9:34 the court has been wrong before. The Court was political. The court redefined marriage. This affects not only the institution of marriage and states’ rights, it also represents a frontal assault on religious liberty and free speech.
ReplyDeleteAs Chief Justice Roberts said: "This court is not a legislature. Whether same-sex marriage is a good idea should be of no concern to us. Under the Constitution, judges have power to say what the law is, not what it should be."
Freedom of religion also means that I don't have to put up with you and your religion imposing beliefs upon me.
ReplyDeleteLive and let live.
Don't want to marry a homosexual, then don't.
If your pastor doesn't want to marry gays, great news, there is no requirement for the to marry them... You still have the freedom to not do it.
God loves gay people too. And only God is the one to judge.
And is in a five-year-old will tell you… You are not the boss of me!
God loves everyone and if you see the light, you can find the way. No one is judging you for being Gay. Personally, I could care less. Five men allowed gay marriage to be Constitutional, something that never should have been before them for consideration.
