It seems that Andy Amoroso went after this blogger for the graphic depicting him as a Klansman hauling off commissioner Maier to be hung, as he or someone on his team called Channel 12 and they ran a one-sided segment about the Ryan Maier incident never contacting Maier or me. Words like "despicable" were used as well as Andy's favorite, "Let's move this city forward."
Residents like Jessica Teutsch find the mudslinging shameful, saying "it hurts the town she’s come to love." Jessica, who doesn't even live in this city, started the "mudslinging" that more than likely was encouraged by that political side. According to Maier, William Waters, Director of sustainability said, "the code citations were not evidence-based, rather based solely on the claim of a woman name Jessica Teutsch."
They (the other side of politics) can't accept, nor can John Szerdi, that he was slaughtered in the last election. Even this past Tuesday when Scott Maxwell brought the subject up and wanted to comment about these "serious" code violations (that have not been proven), Szerdi was waiting out in the hallway...waiting for this public lynching of Ryan Maier who beat him unmercifully...waiting in vain for some personal glee but the mayor stopped it. Maier kept his composure throughout the entire episode.
This story of Channel 12 is one-sided. For a news station, this is what's "shameful." They should focus on both sides of the story and what prompted this graphic, not just the politics of one side in our city. Amoroso comes up for re-election so I am sure that he is not happy about it but most people are not happy with political satire/parody when they are the subject. He needs to put on his big girl panties as Maxwell would say. He is a public figure. "Racism" came into play when Vice Mayor Maxwell called all of us who voted against the general obligation bond, "racists."
And let me remind all of you that we have free speech in this country and the Hustler's Magazine case involving Jerry Falwell that went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court--it all had to do with parody.
Hustler Magazine, Inc. v. Falwell, (1988), was a United States Supreme Court case in which the Court held, in a 8–0 decision that the First Amendment's free-speech guarantee prohibits awarding damages to compensate for emotional distress intentionally inflicted upon them.
Thus, Hustler magazine's parody of Jerry Falwell (which talked about Falwell having sex with his Mother) was deemed to be within the law, because the Court found that reasonable people would not have interpreted the parody to contain factual claims. Source: Wikipedia.
So, everyone knows that Commissioner Maxwell and Commissioner Amoroso are not members of the KKK. But, Maxwell did try to publicly "lynch" Commissioner Maier. That IS something that we all know.
THE IRONY OF THIS ENTIRE THING IS THIS CITY COMMISSION AS WELL AS BLACKMAN WENT AFTER CHANNEL 12 FOR YEARS FOR LOUSY REPORTING. NOW THAT THEY DID A SEGMENT FAVORING THEIR DIRTY POLITICS, IT SEEMS THEY ARE THEIR BEST ADVOCACY.
ReplyDeleteGee Lynn I guess that would make Maier a public figure also. Maybe he should put on his big girl panties, and open his door if he has nothing ti HIDE.
ReplyDeleteWell, let's just see if his civil rights weigh more than some gestapo acting on a political complaint from someone who doesn't even live here who was used as a political tool. Maier has done everything he is supposed to do regarding this political complaint. You can't accuse someone of something and have the right to enter their home. Not in America, you can't. Check the law.
ReplyDeleteBesides, this is about the dirty politics in this city. You guys LOSE this one. You can not assassinate someone without the facts. Let's see what Maier's lawyer says...hope he has one.
Mr. Maier has misled the public while campaigning that he served faithfully on the Sister City Borad, when in reality he was dismissed for not attending the meetings. Why should the citizens of the City believe him now, because he says so. NOT.
ReplyDeleteI want to know once and for all, who in the hell is Jessica? Notice how the Amarosa side of stuff used someone to do the dirty work that no one ever heard of. That too is irony. They work behind the scenes always doing crap. Can't stand Andy boo hoo hooing on tv. It made him look like a real wimp. Grow a set.
ReplyDeletePolitics is what it is. DIRTY. Get over losing because you will be losing again, at least I hope so.
ReplyDeleteAndy should have better control. What a stupid thing to do but more stupid than stupid was Channel 12 falling for the politics in this city.I guess they were tired of getting beat up by city hall.
ReplyDeleteThink the photo is really kool and shows exactly what they were attempting to do. Go girl!
ReplyDeleteIf Maxwell was smart, he would drop all of this and let it take its course. I'm hoping we can count on him to be stupid here.
ReplyDeleteAnother great, well written blog, Lynn. Thanks for the facts.
ReplyDeleteKudos on NOT putting bullets or fire in the graphic, Lynn.
ReplyDeleteMuch respect.
Hi Mitch--if those would have been appropriate for the occasion, I would have.
ReplyDeletePersonally I thought it not only was quite clever showing what the political climate is with these people but it was funny. Of course no one really thinks they are kkk but they obviously are extremely sensitive when exposed in this scene. WB makes outright lies about people and should not be throwing stones.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 3:05 & Lynn, you play a very big part in the nasty politics of this town. It's definitely within your right to do so, free speech and all but it also definitely keeps the level of discourse at a nasty low. Lake Worth doesn't deserve that. we have enough real problems.
ReplyDelete6:07--having a bad day? Just reverse what you just said. We are exposing the dirty politics and the corruption here. If you want to see how low the level of discourse is, go to the bully blogger's blog. That should fill your need and your hate filled soul. Don't bother coming here. Hate to get you upset and all.
ReplyDelete6:05 wake up......and breathe! It is people like you that are the "real problems". We just dont like being lied to, lied about and attacked. Very unbecoming!!!!!
ReplyDelete"Hate filled soul"??? Not at all, just tired of both sides mud slinging. And personally, I don't find anything funny about referencing the KKK, but I understand many of you appreciated the reference -
ReplyDeleteAs ar as this blog is concerned, I like to think it is about truth and the American way...not rolling over to the liars, the sneaks and all those in between. :) here's a suggestion for you--go to AnnaMaria's blog...it is all feel good stuff, for the most part.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to know if Ryan paid taxes on his rental income? If you're willing to lie about one thing, then it's not much of a stretch to think he'd lie about others.
ReplyDeleteAnd just because nobody has "proven" that he did what this lady says he did, that doesn't make it false either. At this point it's an allegation, which may or may not be true. You seem to infer that the whole thing is just false, but how will we know until he opens up the door.
Well, look, anonymous. I am going to complain that you are selling drugs behind your door or you are selling sex for fun or you have rats crawling all over the place. I am going to file a complaint, call the press, try to hang you at a city commission meeting and make a big ta do about it all...go on television and give some dopy reporter a one-sided rendition on this and smear your reputation all over the damn place and definitely call the PBPost.
ReplyDeleteI have NO idea if anything is true or false. The point is you are innocent until proven guilty. You do not have to give a lynch mob the rope. Jessica had NOT been inside his house and then to make matter worse, neither had the dopy code officer.
I would wonder if anyone alive pays taxes on roommate's reimbursement of expenses. Maybe you can illegally obtain a copy of his tax return too. Perhaps you should ask the other blogger. Doesn't he have a roommate?
THIS ENTIRE THING IS POLITICAL.
