Oops, we shouldn't have put that mulch down

The Australian Pine lived here longer than any condo occupant or any bird who ever nested there. It had a lot of wildlife visitors throughout the estimated 7 decades of life.

Not only did the Association cut down the Australian Pine tree after the city issued a permit going around its own ordinance, but Kelley Tree Service came back and lowered the 16 foot diameter stump that they had left the day before. They then covered the remains with some sort of mulch, probably from the tree itself, burying the dead with the dead so to speak.

This wasn't a well thought out plan because the Association has to plant trees in its place by Ordinance (but who knows what or what not the city follows?) and how do you do that when you have a 25 foot diameter of thick untreated mulch on the ground. They now had to contract with a company to lift it all off the ground.

I am really curious as to what all the final dollar figures will come in at for this self-serving exercise where owners, other than the board, had absolutely no say--about felling the tree, the tree replacement or the Association spending their money. We're supposed to be protected by Florida Statutes and our documents  Just be very careful when buying into a Condo.

  1. What does the tree board have to say about what happened here?

  3. Unofficially, a member of the Tree board was shocked at what occurred here.

  4. Sounds to me like your Condo is going to Hell in a Handbasket, quick get it on the market, with one of your realtor friends (I forgot your a broker.) And get out while prices are still good. Otherwise it sounds to me like the Board is out to ruin the complex so all their Canadian friends can pick up a bargin.

  5. Not worried about Canadian friends, sober houses will destroy our infrastructure and peace of mind, the addicts and the "investors " making a bundle on our backs.
