Palm Beach Post
Results of Recent Poll on the Lake Worth Beach casino complex
Which of the plans proposed to the city would you most like to see at the Lake Worth Casino complex?
- Neither; comment with what you'd like to see. 50.98% (52 votes)
- Bring in a Michigan company to build and lease a new restaurant in vacant upstairs space, plus run the ballroom space. 32.35% (33 votes)
- A $15 million expansion that will feature a members-only club, with its own pool and cabanas, adjacent to the casino building; a new city aquatic center featuring two new pools in place of the existing Olympic-sized pool. 16.67% (17 votes)
Of the 107 people who responded to the poll, how many were LW taxpayers? Even if all of them were, and you can be sure of one thing, they all weren’t. That means that the real majority of people in this town really don’t care what goes on over there.
ReplyDeleteAnd don’t forget about this; Remember this engineering report that was done on the current pool back a couple of years ago? Well, even though the pool hasn’t broke in two, the clock is still ticking. Below is part of a story in the PB Post about the pool and its current condition;
“An inspection of the pool conducted June 13 by Sinclair Engineering Co. revealed that the water level in the west side of the pool was slightly higher than it was in the center and east side, indicating the west side of the pool might have settled unevenly. An inspection of the pool conducted June 13 by Sinclair Engineering Co. revealed that the water level in the west side of the pool was slightly higher than it was in the center and east side, indicating the west side of the pool might have settled unevenly.
If tests reveal the presence of organic soils, the engineering report notes, a piling foundation might be needed to support the pool. As an alternative, the pool’s elevation could be monitored to determine whether it is continuing to settle, the engineer’s report said.”
It's really funny about polls--people don't seem to bother taking them...don't understand that really. I believe that everyone is concerned about our beach.
ReplyDeleteIt's sort of the same idea of few people attending city commission meetings. I ran into someone the other night who never goes to the meetings and rarely votes. She said it all was too stressful.
The vast majority of people in the City want the beach, casino, pool, etc. to stay at is. Of course, we want the upstairs space to be leased out and it would be nice for the pool restrooms, etc. to be given an upgrade at some point.
ReplyDeleteThe only people interested in a convention center at the beach are developers and realtors, who would make money off the deal.
The beach redo is highly successful. It is busy most of the time. The pool was well utilized this past weekend, swim lessons, adults swimming laps, water aerobics, baby swim lessons, etc. A wedding was being set up on the beach and in the ballroom, etc. Parking was busy although not entirely packed at 11 am. Why not raise parking rates to help with revenue.
According to the results of the poll 83% choose to leave the upstairs vacant and do nothing else which is costing us tens of thousands of dollars a month or take the offer from an entity for far less than we think it is worth and doesn't cover the costs associated with the building, therefore losing less per month than we are losing now.
ReplyDeleteOf course the poll did not have answers we'd all like to see but that is the nature of polls.
I would like them to get another real estate agent to lease the upstairs and let the city find an employee who can manage the ballroom and our building. What in heck is so hard about that?
ReplyDeleteIf finding another real estate agent to lease the upstairs and manage the ballroom as a profit center was as easy as you claim it is why didn't your "best commission ever" and "best city manager ever" get it done when they were in charge?
ReplyDeleteNow I suppose you're going to provide some b.s. revisionist, nonsensical reason.
The next time you pull that crap, anonymous at 4:05, it will not get posted.
ReplyDeleteNext, the new casino did not open until March 2012 so I believe that it was THIS COMMISSION that was in charge.
Now, do you still want to be obnoxious and STUPID?
Before coming over here venting with your BS, get some facts.
The ballroom is very, very popular. Our rental rates for Friday - Sunday rentals are much too low. Rates should be increased for weekend rentals (with discounts to residents of the City).
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Lake Worth residents get a discount.
ReplyDeleteThe noodle brain must have had a nice little swim today.

ReplyDeleteWhat it means, dumb ass at 1:42, is that Bornstein, Triolo ,Szerdi, Amoroso and Maxwell succeeded very well in their despicable mission- keeping the facts about what they had planned for the beach from the citizens of Lake Worth !!! And how in the hell do you know who the people taking the poll were ???
Almost 100% of the people who's door I have knocked on and talked to about Hudson Holdings and the ITN committee are mad and disgusted. Yes, MAD !!! The people, and not just residents of Lake Worth, DO NOT want the Hudson Holding plan for Lake Worth Beach.Going door to door, exposing Bornstein and the three stooges secret plans,it is clear that many people are NOT paying attention to what is going on in Lake Worth. (which explains how Triolo, Maxwell and Amoroso walked into their seats last election ).,
William Waters was right when he said on tape that Szerdi could say goodbye to his seat if the FACTS got out to the public ! Hey Scotty (Hamburger Boy ), Andy (the Porn King ) and Pammy (I NEVER met with Hudson Holdings. I know absolutely NOTHING about EVERYTHING ),your ass kickings in the next election are going to make Sour Grapes Szerdi look like a winner.
