Our Lake Worth Pool

Comment Up

Found on Sally Welsh's Facebook page--Sally is on deck teaching water exercise at Lake Worth Beach pool. Every Thursday Saturday, and Sunday 10am, $5 "See you in the pool! Just keep moving!"

Now tell me folks, who in their right mind would want to fill in this fabulous pool? Who?

  1. We know that Maxwell does. The city manager always has. John Szerdi certainly does. Is that enough for starters?

As a Lake Worth taxpayer, I resent having to pay for a pool that others use. It's a perfect example of the socialism that is going on in the U.S. today. If you want to use the pool, great...pay for it yourself and stop making others pay taxes for something they don't even use. How is that fair?

Better to put it to use so that all residents can benefit.

  3. I would guess under your theory of greed, that since I eat out and don't have any garbage, that I don't need to pay for garbage pick-up. Or here's another scenario for you, since most of the property owners in the city will not have any 2 inch pipes replaced, then they shouldn't have to contribute to the $16 million that will be spent. And what about the Park of Commerce? We certainly don't have anything to do with that place. What about the Osborne gym? Certainly don't use that one. Don't use the ballparks either. Should we all have to pay? We could go on an on.

  4. anony at 8:09 is one self-serving witch. This is what we deal with in LW. Probably a realtor or developer or someone like that.

  5. Since I'm one of the property owners that pays City taxes (only a third do), I think that PBSO should only patrol in front of my properties and should only serve those residents that pay city taxes. Screw the rest of you.

No seriously, we all pay for things we don't use but benefit society as a whole. I pay for schools yet I don't have children. I pay for the ball fields and the gym and those don't pay for themselves either.

The pool is a great RECREATIONAL asset. So wonderful to see kids learning to swim and adults getting exercise.

Frankly, the City has been trying to kill the pool for at least 8 years now.

  6. the "kill the pool " sentiment started with Hamburger Boy(Scot Maxwell ) . Maxwell's elitist attitude allows him to say stupid statements like "the pool is left over from a time where nobody had private pools. Now everybody has their own pools and we don't need a public pool".What a fool. Three more loads of garbage to take out to ensure that Lake Worth is a great place for EVERYBODY to live. And Maxwell is the biggest load.

  7. Yes, anon at 10:59am let's go back to our own police force, and let more gangs move in. Cut code even more so absolutely nothing get cited, more prostitution, crime. For that matter lets just go back to the Wild West.

  8. We would have had the support of PBSO's gang unit anyway, anonymous @ 7:23. The FEDS got the gangs on RICO charges. Who wants to cut code? Prostitution? We have plenty of it right now. The Wild, wild west? Sounds like the vice mayor. Great going.

I'm surprised you support socialism, Lynn. You're the last one I would expect to cave to the wave that is overtaking this country. You rant and rave against Obamacare as being socialist but it is based upon the same principal as other social services such as libraries, pools and, yes, garbage pick up and police and fire services that you mention.

You're as big a socialist as Obama. What is wrong with everyone around here?

  10. Lake Worth taxpayer--I'm really proud of you...the typical meaningless ridiculous comment from you, as always. What I support, anonymous, are people paying what they're supposed to pay by law. And what I mean by that is paying proportionately per one's income. Someone making $25,000 a year should not be paying the same rate as a millionaire...the poor need help but they also need to help themselves when they are able to do so. If that's socialism in your book, so be it.
I don't know what your comment has to do with cementing in our pool just because you don't use it and you obviously took my comment above as literal not tongue in cheek. Can't get through to some.
