Today, the Palm Beach Post had an article, County sees drop in Crime overall. Below are the categories included in their report. Lake Worth ranked either number three or number six in the county.
Murder -- 1 -- #6
Rapes -- 38 -- #3
Aggravated Assault -- 220 -- #6
Robbery -- 157 -- #3
Burglary -- 597 -- #3
Larceny -- 1,258 -- #6
Vehicle theft -- 130 -- #6
For the most part, those areas with larger numbers were Palm Beach County as a whole and West Palm Beach. The rate per 100,000 people was much higher for Lake Worth other than Riviera Beach in motor vehicle thefts. So, we get more than our share of crimes.
We're number one as far as crime per 100,000 population.
ReplyDeleteYeah, its a huge problem, sure wish the commission would focus on crime rather than giving away our beach.
ReplyDeleteFocus on crime and blight and we'd improve our tax base and we wouldn't be so desperate.
Yes, been trying to figure it out now for 20+ years, why they don't do more about crime and blight in this city and have more effective Codes. Who knows why?
ReplyDeleteI am tired of figuring it out, that is why I am buying a condo over on the beach by LW Beach and have the best of all world, the beach, clean, nice, well taken care of, and no more blight and ineffective leaders.
I am fed up with Lake Worth and empty promises.
Blame all these slum owners like rice and others who never took care of their dumps, 70% rental, no one cares. Hudson Holdings, they still are not doing anything at their dumpy Gulfstream Hotel, looks like hell, yet want our beach. Blame slum owners like the looks of rice and desperate developers like Hudson! These are the ones to blame over the years.
ReplyDeleteOur friends bought a house on the 100 block of south k street over ten years ago for about $240K, they had hopes that the city would get better, so many realtors promise this when they sell here. In more than ten years they put another $80K into the house, new roof, travertine floors, redone the whole house, they have more than $350K into the house, they they want to sell now, they will never get what they paid or put into the house, never, that area of the city two blocks from Lake is dumpy and lots of crime and blight, it never got better, they are so disillusioned. It is upsetting, they want out, they are millionaires with hopes of a better city, now they are selling, will lose money and are buying down near Ft. Lauderdale, Lake Worth has disappointed many, due to all the blight and crime.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad, Lake Worth just never gets better, just keeps getting worse, it is so bad here now. So many are wising up and selling and cutting their losses.
Not too mention, yes too much blight and crime, way too much crime here, one of the worst in PBC. Now we have the big raccoon problem here, Raccoons taking over the city, causing so many problems for many renters and homeowners. It is a real problem now, but no one talks about the problem of the raccoons. What will this city now do about all these raccoons causing so many problems for us?
ReplyDeleteI love LW it is a great city. I can still enjoy parts of Lake Worth, I just do not need to live in all this crime and blight anymore. It never gets better Lynn!
ReplyDeleteEven College Park used to look nicer and part of CP look like hell now too. This city has gone to the wolves.
ReplyDeleteThe new publix on Dixie is uncomfortable to shop in full of lowlife from sober houses using their ebt cards, then citizens who are counting pennies get accosted by cashiers and beggers outside for donations. Hey publix do your own donating.
