Due to the your recent outburst in the City Hall Chambers involving a racial slur, not once but twice, I feel compelled to respond.   The honorable thing to do is to issue a publically (sic) stated apology for using the ‘N’ word in the Chambers.  Lake Worth is proud of its diversity and openness, and I will not abide this kind of behavior in the people’s temple.  Your nonfactual rants such as below about the elected officials and the staff will not be a distraction from this incident.

Note:  Instead of losing your temper, the "honorable thing to do" would have been to privately speak with Mrs. McNamara if you were so upset about the alleged comment attributed to her and get her side of the story before making a judgment.  It's understandable that you are protecting your staff member but is that really your job to judge in this case?  Allegedly, this word was used with NO ONE ELSE IN THE ROOM. The mature thing to do would have been to forget it. If you are proud of our diversity and our openness, then you are well aware of the strong-willed people with different personalities. It's still a "he said, she said"  and in this country you are innocent until proven guilty.

  1. If there was no one in the room when Dee M said the racial slur twice, then she would have been talking to herself. Dee M was not alone and her comment was offensive. The staff member insisted upon a apology which was finally uttered. Why do you continue to defend her behavior?

  2. For full disclosure and transparency, you should print the email Dee sent to the City Manager today to which he was responding. And was it really addressed to "Everyone in the World" or just to those recipients of the first email from Dee?

  3. Her ALLEGED use of the N word...anonymous. do you get it yet? No one heard the remark other than this one staff member. there were no witnesses. there was no recording. Get it yet?

  4. 3:11...I am rather sure that the bully blogger has it on his blog. I don't want to clutter up my blog with junk. And as Mark Easton would say, "Are you trying to tell me how to write my newspaper....?

  6. Seems like the city mgr doesnt realize he IS NOT supervising the public on how to conduct themselves. He needs to educate staff on how to conduct theirselves and be professional. No matter how, what , when or where they interact with the public.

  7. This is a classic example of why the City Of LW can't be taken seriously by surrounding municipalities, govt politicians! This is not an issue the City Mgr should even be involved in or concerned with. It shouldn't even be of news on a tabloid's front page either. These immature responses from both degrade the City. Public citizens are free to speak their minds as long as no criminal laws are violated no matter how disgusting their comment may be. This is not to even say the comment was made as Mrs. N has denied saying it and therefore it turns into a personal matter for those involved. I believe the tabloid and the City Mgr have sunk to new "lows". Very sad for our City!

  8. Well we know she uses the words "monkey" and "slant eyed" to describe people of different races since it is right there on her FB page. She should apologize for that as well.

  9. Look. Most people who have had any conversations with Dee understand she is a different type of individual. Some have attributed it to having life experiences that none of us would wish on our enemy.

It may not absolve her of the rants and bigotry she displays, but give reason to pity her.

What the hell??? I will not? I ? Who in the hell does this city employee think he is?( We get it, Mike! You're a big tough, hand in your jacket Mason. PLEASE !What's next in your bid for attention? Secret hand signals?) No matter how you feel about Dee, this is a she said-he said situation . No witnesses. JUST HEARSAY! The city manager, along with Mark Easton , Scott Maxwell , Retha Lowe and Loretta Sharpe have just stepped into a big steaming pile of litigation. Listen to Mrs. Lowe threatening VIOLENCE !!!! She should have been arrested for trying to incite a riot.

  11. I agree, why is the CM spending time on this. Whether or not staff was offended by the pubic is not an issue he should be wasting his time with. I'm sure staff are offended all the time.

I'd like to ask the CM why I've not received my annual business license paperwork, paid for in Jan. still not received almost 4 mos. later. Building dept. says some problem with the printer I'll get it some time soon . . . Said another way, CM focus on improving operations and forget about what Dee said.
