Saying last summer that they were through with debates ("no more debates by the NAPC") when they would not allow one on the General Obligation Bond, it looks like the NAPC has changed its mind. Actually, the highly politically charged NAPC whose many neighborhood presidents have been on the side of the city, had no one with any conviction who could debate the issue in support of the bond and taxing the property owners for 34 years. According to Jon Faust, the NAPC had no one qualified to debate the topic.

At the Lake Worth
Playhouse
located at 713 Lake
Avenue
The forum is open to the public and there is no entry fee
although we will pass baskets among the audience to collect donations for the
Playhouse to help offset the expense of electricity, sound and lighting
engineers etc. The doors will open for the public to enter at 6:30 PM.
Candidates are asked to arrive at 6:00 PM to do a sound check. The forum should
begin promptly at 6:45 or as soon as the public is seated.
Questions for the candidates and details regarding the
specific format of the forum will be arranged by the NAPC. No candidates
will receive any questions in advance and the format for the evening's event
will be provided in writing to all the candidates when they arrive at the
Playhouse, although you may certainly expect to have 3 minutes for opening and
closing statements. The NAPC will provide timekeepers for each candidate. No
electronic equipment will be allowed on stage including cell phones, laptops,
electronic notebooks, iPads or anything similar. Our moderator for this forum,
as in the past, will be John T. Paxman PA.
If you would like to provide
a short (150 words or less) paragraph about yourself, we will be happy to
include it in our printed program which will be distributed to all in
attendance. Submissions longer than 150 words will not be used. Please
send your submissions to napcinfo@gmail.com
via separate email. Note: as an
example - The highlighted portion of this paragraph is 52 words.
To allow a clear line of sight for all who attend the forum,
no yard signs or banners will be permitted inside the Playhouse. To minimize
left behind litter inside the Playhouse, we ask each candidate to have your
supporters hand out such material outside the Playhouse either before
and/or after the forum. Unattended stacks of handouts/palm-cards/
flyers/doorhangers etc. will also not be permitted inside the
Playhouse.
In keeping with our bylaws, the Neighborhood Association
Presidents Council, Inc. neither endorses nor opposes any candidate. The
NAPC is incorporated in the State of Florida as a non-profit educational
organization. Our mission is to serve neighborhood associations across the City
of Lake Worth. For more information about the NAPC, you may visit our website
at www.lwnapc.com.
The NAPC Candidate forum will be announced on the NAPC
website and on the NAPC Facebook page. All NAPC Neighborhood Presidents will
also receive an announcement to send via their Association's email distribution
list. Posters announcing the Forum will be available next week for local
businesses to display if they wish and a notice will be placed in the Lake
Worth Visitor Information Center.
This email has been sent to all candidates via blind
copy. If for any reason you are unable to participate in the forum,
please let us know as soon as possible by replying to this email.
Unfortunately, we do not have an alternate date for the Playhouse due their
performance schedule and other factors. We sincerely thank each of you for
stepping up to serve our great City and we look forward to a most informative
evening.

ReplyDeleteHow right you are. Even you are correct some of the time.
Take out the word "some" and I will agree with you.
ReplyDeleteOk... Even you are correct of the time. LOL.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm the vice-president of ROLO and we didn't know ANYTHING about this!
ReplyDeleteThe League of Women Voters refused to ever participate in a Lake Worth Candidate Forum again after the fiasco of John Rinaldi as monderator last time.
ReplyDeleteWill they be there this time?
Of course the "non-political" NAPC, formerly chaired by Mary Lindsey and now by Jon Faust will channel soft ball questions to non-elected John Szerdi and prospective Chamber puppet Serge Jerome,. to make them appear more knowledgeable than they are.
ReplyDeleteThe League of Women Voters will not come back to Lake Worth, they were shocked and disgusted by the blatant favoritism shown to the candidates supported by the non-political NAPC. Which is why the "debate" will be moderated by a guy with a Szerdi sign in his yard. Fair and balanced, you betcha!
ReplyDeleteAnd the format is a big SECRET!!!!! Of course it is, unless you're John Szerdi or Surge Jerome. lol I think we should suggest some questions, just in case it's another candidate-specific question format. Here are my suggestions:
For Maier:
1. What will you do to lower electric rates another 10% and eliminate the contribution to the general fund too?
2. How will you bring the crime rate down?
3. How will you achieve world peace? And please give us a time line.
For Szerdi:
1. Can you give us an update on the cemetery? Is everyone still dead over there?
2. What do you think of the hotdogs at Benny's?
3. Boxers or briefs?
Gee Mike, and why couldn't the dark side find even one person to run against Szerdi in the last election? Was it possibly that most L-dubbers know we are turning the corner, settling lawsuits, restoring Lake Worth's credibility in the county that was destroyed by your buddies in the anarchy community? Is it because this commission was concerned enough to put forth a bold proposal for dealing with our crumbling infrastructure? Or is it because they haven't dealt decisively with the backyard chicken issue that is so important to you and your well groomed, but woefully under qualified candidate?
ReplyDeleteYour last group of misfits decimated our code department that is now finally almost back up to speed. Your candidate has a problem with them already.
Is this the best you could find? At least the Sierra Club endorses him. That's great for Lake Worth's vast wilderness.
Well, anonymous, you are up mighty early with your sound bytes of bull. It's a shame that this sort of chit spreads like wildfire within this city and you get away with it. What's worse, you want to believe it. Is this Szerdi?
ReplyDeleteYOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IN HECK YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT and that's what's scary about this city.
Thanks for addressing the "crumbling infrastructure" by wanting to tax everyone for 34 years while the road you will fix will only last 15. Such a game plan blows my mind.
Have fun wasting taxpayer money in Tallahassee going to breakfasts, lunches, dinners and cocktail parties and all the exciting events, schmoozing with Jeff Clemens. When you see him, ask him what he's done for Lake worth. You deserve this mini-vacation on the taxpayer's dime. I'll apologize if you come home with one dime.
The Sierra Club is a prestigious endorsement. You make fun of protecting Florida? Is this Szerdi?
When Genesis was a member of the NAPC a motion came up at a NAPC meeting to have a local resident as a moderator for the election at that time. I suggested it not be a resident of our city to avoid any rumors of favoritism and/or bias. I made a motion to have my friend John Bachman (reporter at WPEC Channel 12 news) to be the moderator for the debate. I was met with some opposition but there was a vote and I was given permission to pursue my suggestion. John did a great job, he was professional, unbiased and fair. He did not live in our city therefore he could not be perceived as soft balling a favorite candidate and hard balling an unfavorable candidate. I think that should be the standard format for all our future debate moderators. Perception is everything in politics. Look at the John Rinaldi fiasco, I don't blame the League of Women Voters for not wanting to come back after that.
ReplyDeleteAtlanta-ly yours,
Mark A. Parrilla
Code is "back up to speed"? I just practically cracked a rib laughing at that one. What you noticed when the other crew was in charge was that the "political code enforcement" arm of the dept was eliminated, except for Al Vega, who continues to cite anyone who dares to run against the corrupt majority supported by Ramiccio, Bo Allen, et al. The real cabal in Lake Worth.
ReplyDeleteIf you think that code enforcement has improved one tick since 1980, you are the only one and you must live in a cave. Are you a Caver?
When did the NAPC ever say it as done with political debates? You even put in the quote "no more debates by the NAPC".
ReplyDeleteAs you stated on one of your posts in the last couple of days that you only work with cold, hard facts, please go ahead and post the above statements made by the NAPC and the source to back up your direct quote.
You sound like a freaking broken record. It was said to the CAUT Pac that asked for a debate.
