McVoy gets Realtors' endorsement

Comment Up

Believing that Local governments should hold the line on spending and not increase their millage rates; nor increase other local government taxes, fees or assessments to offset mandated reductions in property taxes, and that there needs to be a comprehensive master plan for the undeveloped Everglades Agricultural Area to ensure smart growth in Palm Beach County, Commissioner Christopher McVoy just received the coveted Realtors® Association of the Palm Beaches endorsement.

  1. Congrats to McVoy. The Realtors know that the 20/20 bond would have been a disaster for Lake Worth .

  2. Ok wait, so now the realtors are the good guys or did McVoy switch sides? Or is McVoy now a professional politician. I've always been behind him, but this definitely doesn't make me feel good. Why would McVoy even seek their endorsement. This worries me because all these years you've always written how the realtors and real estate investors are out to turn LW into a highrise community. What's the deal?

  3. Commissioner Szerdi also received the endorsement from the Realtors. What they're saying by these endorsements? They're endorsing the fact that for the first time in a long time LW is showing stability and predictability in it's elected and administrative parts of its government.

  4. I'm a licensed real estate broker. There are some Realtors in this city who you have to watch, anonymous. We know who they are. Most in this profession don't sell their soul to the devil for a buck.

  5. All candidates are invited to interview with the Realtors. They certainly don't want to embarrass themselves by endorsing Jerome. And they've endorsed McVoy's losing opponents twice now. McVoy is obviously the best choice and they're tired of looking stupid.

  6. Gee Lynn, your a real estate broker, I am shocked, in previous blogs you have referred to the realtor as nothing but builders whores now they are a coveted endorsement.
Tell the truth, what are ya all?????

  7. Being a Realtor (where the politics begin) is not the same as being a licensed real estate broker. Look it up anonymous. When I talk about "Realtors" here in Lake Worth, I am talking about the money grubbing corrupt self-servers who don't give a fig about building to the sky, building more affordable rentals, etc. It's all about their commission, not the city that I love. You know the kind.

  8. If you want Ft. Lauderdale here, why don't you just move to Ft. Lauderdale? Give the rest of us a break.

  9. The Realtors remembered that Commissioner McVoy was the only one on the dais that opposed the huge and unnecessary $63.5 million bond that the other 4 Commissioners were attempting to saddle us with for 34 years so they could, among other things, line their pockets with $800,000.00 each that they could spend without public scrutiny and without Commission approval.

The realtors know that this kind of exorbitant and onerous tax hike for 34 years would destroy the rise in property values that has been occurring in Lake Worth recently.
