Don't let them "lift" your wallet and abuse their power

Comment Up

I have to wonder why people don't feel someone lifting their wallet. But often times, these are professional pickpockets who steal without you noticing or feeling a thing.

In city government, that has a responsibility to watch the purse strings, it happens all of the time. Most of us don't notice a thing until it hits us in the wallet. Commissions make bad policy decisions and they hide the details on long and short term debt. They pack high cost items on the Consent agenda with no discussion. Their excuse is that you voted them into office and therefore you need to vote them out if you're not happy with what they're doing. We hear that all of the time. They go along with what staff wants, not necessarily what we the people need or can afford. It is the "electeds" excuse for doing what they want (bad government) and they more or less are telling you to "go stick it where the sun don't shine" if you disagree.

On March 10, let's tell them that we need to retain an honest commissioner, Chris McVoy and vote in a new one, Ryan Maier and maintain a budget that makes sense for all of us. When you have elected officials that includes a sitting commissioner running for re-election who will not honor the vote of the people, then you have despotic abuse of power.

  1. Yes Lynn, let's talk about honesty, how about the video from TOB (the other blogger) showing McVoy going through another commissioners papers while everyone was out of the room. Real Honest...

  2. Things can be assumed without it being so and an innocent gesture twisted for political purposes. Did the bully ask McVoy about what he was looking for? I didn't see the video so I can't really respond and certainly would not presume to call someone DISHONEST. That's your tactic.

McVoy is 100% honest with the highest of integrity that we have had in years.

  4. How do you measure "integrity?" You either have it or you don't. If you are talking about McVoy, he doesn't do anything to demean or dishonor himself but most of all, dishonor the people he serves. He is a good person. If you're talking about my integrity, then we have a big problem. Go to that other blog and sound off. They like to hear from people like you as they are on a totally different plane.

  5. Szerdi has a string of ethics problems. He voted to give himself 800,000 to roll around in while our road repair budget is less than 500,000.He even lied about how much he spent to fix up his house. At one meeting the amount was 100,000 . At another meeting it was 150,000. No wonder our city finances are in a shambles! And who in their right mind would spend 150,000 to FIX up a house in Lake Worth?!?
