Commissioner John Szerdi and Lake Worth's city attorney, Cristy Goddeau, (Torcivia law firm is keepng her busy) asked for an opinion from the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics regarding Szerdi's relationship with Hudson Holdings.
According to the Ethics Commission, Commissioner Szerdi correctly concluded that he cannot use his position in any way when he knows that it
would result in a special financial benefit, not shared with similarly situated members of the general public,
to himself or Hudson Holdings, LLC, a customer or client of his outside employer or business. In order to
comply with the Code of Ethics, he will need to publicly disclose the nature of the conflict before the City
Commission discusses the matter, abstain from participating and voting on the matter, and file a state voting
conflict form (88).

Can we start with 'he had to ask'...
ReplyDeleteDon't you have to wonder what these billable hours amounted to?
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be nice to have a Commissioner that didn't have to ask?
ReplyDeleteit could mean prison time
ReplyDeleteSzerdi asked if he needed to refrain from voting on ANYTHING dealing with Hudson in Lake Worth since he did work for them in Delray.
ReplyDeleteHe already knew he could not work for them on Lake Worth projects. Looks like he may be abstaining quite a bit in the near future. Hudson seems to have their eye on our under-performing casino complex top floor.
If you didn't read the opinion, you'd think Szerdi tried to get away with something when the opposite is true.
Hopefully there is NO near future
