Quote of the Day - Marco Rubio

Comment Up
"If they wanted to change that law, they should have gone to the legislature or back to the Constitution and try to change it. I don’t agree we should be trying to make those changes through the courts... While I believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman, while people want to change that law — and a lot of people apparently do – there is a way to do that. You go through the legislature, or you go on on the ballot, but I don’t agree the courts have the power to do this."

  1. Marco is so wrong on this, this just shows his hate and homophobia, plan and simple. I say THANK GOD FOR THE COURTS! Blacks, women, the disabled and mentally challenged, and now gays can finally have all the same rights and protections, due to the courts here in the USA. A majority cannot hold a minority down by a vote, a minority would never win when left up for a vote with the majority voting against a minority, it takes a court, it should have. Thank God we have a fair court who serves ALL people, not just the majority, usually who discriminate and are not inclusive of ALL.

The logic of many including Rubio is severely flawed. So typical of a white heterosexual in the USA and FL.

    Thank you Supreme Court!

  2. Two points of view, anonymous. Gays have all the rights and protections, just not the financial benefits that marriage brings.

  3. Now in FL gays have all benefits like heteroexuals have and they should, what do you mean just not the financial benefits that marriage brings?

  4. You will be able to inherit as a spouse, covered on an insurance policy, file joint tax returns--that sort of thing. To tell you the truth, I don't want to debate this.

  5. This is surprising but a mute point now anyway, there is gay marriage now in FL and 36 states and the DC.

Why should gays only get the protections but not the financial benefits that marriage brings? Why? Equal rights are not special rights! Sounds like bigotry.

Are white heterosexuals different from BLACK heterosexuals? Different in Florida?

  7. A lot of gays like to be tops too!
Rubio just sounds like he is bashing gays in this comment and it comes through that he hates them and likely is homophobic. His comment shows that he is disrespecting the courts now and all gay people and this is offensive. He sounds like a big bigot.

  8. I don't think that he is intolerant at all. He has a different opinion on what marriage is and who should decided it.

  9. Because someone does not agree with the courts overturning an election by the people of Florida about gay marriage does not make them a homophobe. It make them a person that is pointing out a very frightening trend. One that says -ELECTIONS DON'T MATTER!
