Lake Worth Beach today

Comment Up
Today, there were two flags flying at our beach:  yellow (moderate surf and/or currents) and purple (Dangerous Marine Life).

The only ones in the surf today were those kite surfing.

  1. The beach and lifeguards are such a joke. They had a purple flag today, but there were no jelly fish or sharks, perfectly clean to swim in, actually very nice. Why do they discourage people from going in the water? Purple flag, what a joke. Not one jelly fish was int he water and I swam there for more than 30 minutes, love the beach today. Just wish the lifeguards would stop discouraging people from going in the ocean. One sign I saw said, " A lot of jelly fish" but we did not see one. I have lost faith in the people in charge up at our beach. Anything they can do to discourage people from going in the water so they do not have to watch people and do their job. so sad.

  2. What a pathetic absolutely irresponsible comment to make just because in the all of 30 minutes you were in the water you did not see any jellyfish so you insipidly accuse our lifeguards of discouraging people to go in the water so they don't have to watch them? REALLY? I would like to see you be able to perform their duties for just one day. Unless you were up on one of their turrets to have a clear overhead view of the shore you would not be able to assess wether there were jellyfish or not. Remember they are "sea life" and do move with currents and they can swim. They also have binoculars, did you when you were doing your Sherlock Holmes imitation ISO the elusive jellyfish. I know how hard our lifeguards work so I take offense when someone takes feeble pop shots at them. I have seen most of our lifeguards volunteer and work side by side with us on beach cleanups and other events on the beach where they DON'T get paid because they are off the clock. They put their lives at risks constantly for our safety when we are out their swimming. I am surprised at the tone of your comment I am not surprised you didn't sign your name to it. Chalk another cowardly fabricated false allegation about our staff up to someone who doesn't have the testicular or ovarian fortitude to sign their own name and take ownership of their verbal littering! You are in the minority feeing this way. I guess you weren't at the commission meeting where our former city manager tried to fire our lifeguards and sub contract that out. There was standing room only even in the hallways and a very large majority said "we keep our lifeguards". So I don't think your delusional performance evaluation about them would stand with anyone of us residents who know them. I am posting this because there are those that may read your lies and believe this is true and avoid a visit to our beach and miss out on a really great time. Hey anonymous apply for a position as a lifeguard and do a better job then them or get a hobby for God's sake.

  3. Wow, Mark, pretty explosive. He can have an opinion, no? He didn't personally attack anyone other than express his disappointment about the flag alerts.
Back during the days when we were in a serious financial drain, the city was trying in every way possible to cut expenses. There is nothing wrong with that either. that is responsible management.
