Read the article... by Ted Cruz and what he has to say about Obama's idea to regulate the Internet.
Cruz says, "Yet the threats from Washington to stifle freedom, entrepreneurship and creativity online have never been greater. Washington politicians want the money, and they want more and more control over our speech."
It's all government even in LW from the BCE.
ReplyDeleteIf you consider for a moment that Google to Facebook to Twitter to Microsoft to Ebay to Amazon to Yahoo to Dropbox and hundreds more are strong supporters of Net Neutrality, you then have to wonder what Ted Cruz and the Tea Party are talking about.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is just another case of conservatives siding with the telecom gatekeepers because of big business and, because, well, Obama.
Didn't Cruz also say that ebola was Obama's Katrina? Or that Mexicans were coming across the border infected with ebola? Or that Obamacare death panels are going to kill us all?
Yeah, definitely a serious thinker. Sooner or later, him and his minions are bound to get it right.
Ya think? Cruz graduated cum laude from Princeton University. After graduating from Princeton, Cruz attended Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude in 1995 with a Juris Doctor degree.[2][38] While at Harvard Law, Cruz was a primary editor of the Harvard Law Review, and executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, and a founding editor of the Harvard Latino Law Review.
ReplyDeleteDoes that sound like a dummy to you, really?
Can't argue with a liberal left-wing Socialist. Just can't.
One more thought on this--
ReplyDeleteCompetition makes a better product. With technology rapidly changing, why should everyone get the same speed?
As a wise writer said on Forbes, More choices are good for consumers. We win from having multiple flavors of ice cream in the store. We benefit from the large variety of cars available for purchase. The fact that most people cannot afford some of those models does not mean they should be removed from sale.
Similarly, the fact that some businesses or consumers may choose to pay for better access to the Internet is not a bad thing. I have a different cell phone service and land line service than you do, as an example. Should we all have the same? Why? Some people pay more to fly first class, but they do not interfere with my travel in coach.
Let's not deter ingenuity. This is what has made our country great. Unless, of course, you just want communism. I think we have it right.
Ah, so those liberal universities that fill student's heads with socialist ideas are good now? You folks need to make up your minds.
ReplyDeleteCurious as to how many times the Tea Party has said that Obama and Eric Holder are stupid yet....well, I'll let you look up their diplomas.
This isn't about "arguing." It's about pointing out facts and having a somewhat rational debate about an issue without resorting to name calling and mud slinging which you do first, each and every time. Why is that the case?
Cruz is a politician who belongs to a political party whose job it has been for the last 8 years to criticize and/or block every single thing that Obama proposes. It has never been about facts or what's right or even who has the most degrees...it's about politics and appealing to an older right wing Republican base who lived through the 40's and 50's and still believes that Obama is, well, let's say, "different."
You do know, of course, that both wireless communication and the airlines are heavily regulated by the government.
ReplyDeleteYes, of course you do.
What does that mean? I am talking about the types of services that you buy...
ReplyDeleteLike the internet? Do you have an ISP?
ReplyDeleteMy point: the govt. is heavily involved in regulation of the services that you mentioned and you seem to be totally okay with it. They're working fine. Doesn't mean that we're communist or socialist or fascist or...whatever you want to call it.
BTW...you going to publish my other longer comment or have you deleted it?
Sorry--I do have a life.
ReplyDeleteWe agree to disagree. ok?
That's okay. It's verification that I've made my point and you got nothin'.
ReplyDeleteHey, stop by Nature's Way and I'll make a wrap for you and we can chat. ;)
All it is--verification that you are a wise guy. You don't like the name calling? Then admit what you are. I do--a conservative and a moderate Democrat who has seen the light. There is no debate with a communist. It is you guys who lost in the polls. It is you guys who have caused this country to have little prestige around the world right now and have brought this country down to a splinter of what it once was. I believe in govt and laws, not its intrusion on free enterprise/capitalism and our daily lives from cradle to grave.
ReplyDeleteWe've sort of drifted from the main point of the post which is Net Neutrality.
ReplyDeleteIt's apparent that part of the problem is that the right wing does view the internet as some kind of commodity...like ice cream (using your example).
Net Neutrality essentially makes the internet a commodity much like your trash service or electric service (both of which are regulated by government). Do you think that Americans are only entitled to the quality of the water that providers believe you should have? Or that the quality of the electricity that you get is based upon what some power company CEO feels you're entitled to?
The quality of the internet service that is provided to Americans should be consistent and not determined by user, content, site, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or mode of communication.
That is Net Neutrality. It's a concept that benefits all Americans and is not the politicial football that Cruz is making it.
As far as your last comment goes...label me whatever way you wish. You're going to anyway no matter what I tell you. I'm just trying to have a somewhat rational conversation while dodging the mud you keep slinging at me and that you don't tolerate from anyone...except yourself.
Boy, I gotta hand it to you, you get your butt kicked on this one and you still post some of the comments which makes you look totally ignorant.
ReplyDeleteIt's a different point of view, anonymous at 11:37. You're siding with your hero, Obama; I'm not. Don't think that's getting my butt kicked. What it is--typical Democratic attacks.
ReplyDeleteHow am I attacking you? I'm explaining to you in a reasonable fashion my opinion on Net Neutrality. Your response, thus far, is to call me names, make a comparison to buying ice cream, and list Ted Cruz's educational accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteIt is a different point of view, I agree. But I really just want to have an intelligent discussion/debate on the reasons behind that.
We all got your message. Obamacare for the Internet.
