What a damn shame.
Thank you to Jess Santamaria and Paulette Burdick who stepped up against development of Minto West. Large crowds are expected Wednesday at 9:30 am when the county commission considers
land-use and zoning changes at a public hearing before its final vote. This is what elected officials do best--they call it progress; residents call it destruction of their quality of life.
People who moved to that area settled there for peace and quiet. Now it will get 6 square miles of concrete, widened roads, offices, 4,500 homes, townhouses, condos, shopping centers and congestion in an area that will be larger than the City of Lake Worth. Gone will be the trails and natural environments.
If you want to attend, the address is Sixth
floor, Palm Beach County Governmental Center, 301 N. Olive Ave., West
Palm Beach. The government center will provide areas with TV screens on first, sixth and seventh floors for the overflow crowd..
This so sad. So many love wandering around in the natural areas over there and it's nice to have a buffer from all the traffic noise.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we build or renovate where there is already "stuff". Oh, but if we made rules and laws like that we might be considered anarchist/socialists haha
God forbid the developers don't get the opportunity to make money.
Remember, in LW if you say you just want peace and quiet (small town atmosphere is why you moved here) you will get thrown under the bus and discredited.
I wonder what happened with The Villages and Fruitland Park?
Hell to pay for those against that "progress".
Remember-we get the government that we deserve. Vote the damn bums OUT !Remind them that after they vote to screw over the people, they will never be elected again. And then follow thru with that threat. I plan on running for fat ass Vana's seat. It's time that somebody really listened to the people rather than the money boys of big Ag and development.
ReplyDeleteI do not think we DO get the government we deserve. Politicians promise the moon and rarely deliver. Look what Obama's done!
ReplyDeleteIf it weren't for protecting agriculture, our state would be run over with pavement. Vana is pushing for national baseball in John Prince Park--still! What a piece of work.
Obama used the word "transparency" in his election so much that I wanted to pull my hair out. Look at all the transparency we have got! Bunch of promise makers and promise breakers. Politicians today are whores to the $$$$$$$$
