Tonight at the city commission meeting, we will listen to an update from the College Park Neighborhood Association. We will have to listen to its invitation/appeal for everyone in the city to go to its Lake Worth 2020 presentation three days before the election. Of course, neighborhood associations are not political or so we have been told.
It's sickening that the City strategically put College Park on the agenda as a presenter tonight. The City really believes that we are all stupid and nothing they are doing is anything but "education." After all, City Attorney Glen Torcivia did a 13 page report telling them that.
Too, another reason is because Mary Lyndsey runs CP and is very influential and is for this YES vote. Although when you drive through CP not all signs are for the referendum, many say to vote NO. It looks very split. It is sad that this could pass and be such a burden and tax increase for so many, no many will likely move out of the city if this thing passes. Older people can't afford this increase as they retire for the next 30 years of their retired lives. I say vote NO!

Item 12A Ordinance to Resolution - BAD because they can put it on CONSENT AGENDA (see 19 items and two [2] minutes to talk)
and avoiding the 1st and 2nd PUBLIC READINGS! No Rules - 3 to 2 dais votes and it all can change! Giving away the people's power, shameful!
19 items on consent-what do you expect when the last city commission meeting was on July 8th?!
ReplyDeleteWe don't expect them all to be pushed on the consent agenda with no discussion.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that we've had no meetings leading up to the vote is purposeful. The City doesn't want the issue of the bond coming up at meetings, so no meetings.
ReplyDeleteThe mayor made that crystal clear last night...did not like discussion on the bond.
