We residents just can't get enough "education" even if it will be one-sided and attended by city staff. No where does Mary Lindsey identify herself. I guess she believes that everyone knows who she is in Lake Worth--President of the Neighborhood Association Council that is over all of the NA's in our city and President of her own Neighborhood Association at College Park. Is there anyone out there who believes she is not influential? Obtaining power through the neighborhoods was on the drawing board years ago. I wrote about it in the Dirty Dozen series.
We are allowing her to be fully transparent here by publishing her letter--at least she invited everyone to attend a meeting through Facebook (many people do not use Facebook) where the city will try very hard to convince you to turn over your first born, vote yourself into a 30 year debt, a debt that Mary supports.
College Park Neighborhood Special Meeting
Saturday, August 23rd
5-7 PM
First Congregational Church
1415 North K Street
Everyone is invited!
The College Park Neighborhood Association is holding a special meeting on Saturday, August 23rd to allow friends and neighbors another opportunity to hear directly from the City about the Lake Worth 2020 plan and the bond referendum that will appear on the ballot in the August 26th election.
Representatives from the City will be on hand to present detailed information about what the plan will include city wide and block by block, the proposed timetable for the improvements that are planned as well as what passage of the bond will cost individual property owners.
A special table will be set up with City staff members and computers to calculate the cost in actual dollar amounts based on information retrieved from the Property Appraisers website for individual properties using the most conservative parameters.
As a Neighborhood Association, College Park neither supports nor opposes any candidate or question that comes before the voters. The purpose of this meeting is to offer neighbors an opportunity to learn more about the bond referendum so that they can make the most informed choice when they vote. This is not a formal debate on the question from those in favor of or opposed to the bond. This is strictly to provide information to anyone who wants it. Comments and questions will be welcomed and answered.
Neighbors from anywhere in the City of Lake Worth are invited to attend and participate. Coffee, cool beverages and light refreshments will be served. Polling place information for the election on Tuesday, August 26th will be available. The question as it will appear on the ballot is as follows:
OFFICIAL BALLOT
CITY OF LAKE WORTH, FLORIDA
BOND REFERENDUM ELECTION – AUGUST 26, 2014
APPROVAL OF "LAKE WORTH 2020" BONDS FOR PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS WITHIN THE CITY.
Shall the City of Lake Worth be authorized to issue bonds to acquire and improve roadway, sidewalk, streetlight, streetscape, drainage and water and sewer facilities located within the City in one or more series not exceeding a total principal amount of $63,500,000, payable from an annual ad valorem tax maturing not later than 30 years from the date of each issuance and bearing interest at a rate not exceeding the maximum legal rate?

Why is this additional meeting needed ? Didn't the city claim that it had held in depth community meetings for the last two years? Wasn't there ALREADY a meeting put on by the city for this district ? Why ANOTHER chance for the city to vomit up it's propaganda to the neighbors? Oh ,I think I just answered my own question. Will city staff be on the clock ? They have ALREADY stolen 50,000 dollars to "educate" us little brain dead peons, but Mary has to give them another crack at us right before the election ,right Mary ?
ReplyDeleteYou can send in your questions and I bet the exact same thing will happen that happened at the last 'meeting' where our Heights questions were thrown out!
ReplyDeleteHere's my response on FB!
No THANKS! We did that before at a candidate debate and two people had their Heights Questions REMOVED FROM THE PILE! Then they had the (balls) to ask for more questions and for a 2nd time REJECTED OUR HEIGHTS QUESTIONS! Do Not Waste your time here w/facilitators that are set on directing the conversation and RESULTS - VOTE AGAINST THE BONDS! Find someone who has done the math and read the words! The city and NAPC is treading on the line on BLATANT PROPAGANDA - has the other side been invited to share the math? Is this part of the TAXPAYERS 50K to EDUCATE US? Will they discuss this loan is tied to your house and if the city defaults what happens? Will the employee's of the city be paid to present the propaganda they have or is this their personal opinion? Who is paying for the room to "EDUCATE" YOU?
