With a budget out of control ($531 million that includes an additional $32 million, a 15% bump), I've always said that Ric Bradshaw runs this County. Click here... to see what I mean.
He wants to push back the meeting with the County until the month of September. The commission's final budget vote is Sept. 22. The County will get an additional $41 million because of ad-valorem that they need for roads infrastructure and he wants the larger slice of the pie.
Who's the boss? I think it's the guy with the gun.
"Sandy Springs generates huge surpluses. They have no unfunded liabilities. The city specifically decided not to use the traditional pension model – a model which has put almost every government across America in an unsustainable pension crisis. Instead, employees can choose their own 401K package to prepare for retirement, if they wish."
ReplyDelete"This has given the town of Sandy Springs lots of extra cash to work with – a surplus that they put into building for the future. According to Sharon Kraun, “The city, as a matter of policy, sets aside 25% of revenues into a reserve during each budget planning cycle. Capital improvements have been a major focus during our first eight years, with more than $185 million invested in capital infrastructure.”
"This has lead to lots of improvements around the town. The city has repaved 147 miles of streets, 874 storm water projects, and built 32 miles of new sidewalks."

Great story--thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteCity governments and elected officials have no balls to even talk with unions or the sheriff. Let's hope they in the county can say NO to Bradshaw.
ReplyDeletePBSO and Bradshaw are ridiculous with their bully and scare tactics on the budget. The budget is out of control and rises each year, most of it goes to fund golden retirement benefits. PBSO should be required to live within its means just like the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteThey are bullies about sooooo any things.
ReplyDeleteFor example, if you have a big mouth, and money, and connections, they will listen to you even if you are lying out the wazooo.
But if you're just a poor schmuck just trying to keep a peaceful life for yourself, you can forget it.
If I had money, and was about to leave the county for good, I would try to sue the pants off of them...or whatever action it is you can take.
Perhaps Internal Affairs would be the safest bet.
