Instead of taking ROLO up on their offer of a paint brush, Maxwell went right to the head guy to get it solved.

Thank
You City Manager for your quick response to my early morning request to
rid the underpass at 12th avenue south and I-95 of recent graffiti
activity..
...and they said I couldn't figure out how to use fb

This blog did make a difference by exposing it in the first place. It also proved that a commissioner, when he feels motivated, can make a positive difference.
ReplyDeleteI don't suppose he called Robert or Katie since they were the ones who volunteered to paint it over. Too much trouble picking up THAT phone line.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he called Retha. Isn't it that area that gets the attention?
ReplyDeleteScott Maxwell completely realizes and understands why graffiti must be gone quickly. He reacted exactly as we would want him to, not necessarily as we would expect him to do. It is appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThank you to ANYONE, including Commissioner Maxwell, that gets rid of graffiti. This was not the normal stupid graffiti that gets done there time after time. This was vicious gang on gang tagging filth.Again much thanks to everyone including Lynn's blog and Commissioner Maxwell who got this taken care of . Katie Mcgiveron ,vice president ROLO neighborhood.
ReplyDeletePeople just seem to think this is unsightly, but its way more important than that. This is evidence of gang activity and can possibly mean gang fights, or gang shootings coming. PBSO should be all over any gang tagging in our city and sadly it is all over. While this may have been addressed, yay, look at just about every corner and you'll see more and more of this tagging. PBSO should be addressing this as a crime issue and a gang issue.
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious the city does not want any interaction with the ROLO board. It is only fair to note we all do not support the politics of Katie and Robert.
ReplyDeleteExactly WHAT POLITICS do you refer? This is one of the few neighborhood associations that do NOT engage in politics. They were forced to take a stand on JPPark.
ReplyDeleteAll NA's ARE political--ROLO never was until it was forced into politics by the city, the city commission and the NACP. Now they too realize that NA's are political. It was quite a revelation I would imagine.
ReplyDeleteLynn, you are always coming down on people and organizations who do the most good for the city. What gives?
ReplyDeleteBe more specific--
ReplyDeleteIt was volunteers from ROLO who volunteered to paint over the graffiti. I don't come down hard on any group that helps our city and helps its neighbors if their help or the stand they take are for all the right reasons.
Great to see our Commissioner takes action and get things done. Nice job Mr. Maxwell.
