 More on the Gulfstream...

Read about what the investors bought it for and what one said about the Lake Worth commission...that one will REALLY bring tears to your eyes.

  1. This is such a step in the right direction. Utilizing the cities established Historical sites will help set a precedent for future investment in the City if LW. Utilize the charm we already have and capitalize on it should have been the plan from the beginning decades ago.

  2. Jeff Perlman, executive VP of business development for DeSantis’ CDS International Holdings, said they were attracted to Lake Worth by the strong city leadership that has welcomed economic growth.

At least the Schlesingers are out of our hair.

There will always be naysayers and there will always be supporters. This town is no different than any other town in that regard. What Mr. Pearlman said about our commission is not something coming from one of the few dozen politicos in town, it's a view from a member of the outside investment community. Serious investors look a number of things before they pull the trigger on a project of this magnitude. Location, demand, projected return on investment and yes political stability. Strong city leadership is what we've finally achieved with our elected commission majority and CM. This vote of confidence by the investment community verifies that.

  5. Developers are always going to be entranced by a city that wants economic development. They don't care about the expense to the residents, the vote of the people, etc....only their pocket. That being said by a developer/investor does not impress me. These buyers got a good deal. They can stick to 45 feet on the undeveloped lot.

As far as a few dozen people, remember the vote last year...57% said NO to going over 45' downtown. If they made this investment on political stability, bless them.

  7. Zoning is 65' in that area for a hotel. Like it's been for decades. Remember the vote? The vote of the people? The people inTallahassee HB 537?

  8. LOL...the vote of the people? Post-facto law? I don't think so. We could argue this all day and as the judge said, whatever decision he would make would go to a higher court.
