Graffiti on Lucerne Avenue

Comment Up

Just when we begin to give the benefit of the doubt to the CRA that they are revitalizing the western community, then this property is trashed again. Boarded up for years, and directly west of the CRA's project, The Lofts, this private property is ideal for the graffiti artist once again.

  1. What does the owner say about his property that is an eye sore?

  2. When I saw this, I couldn't help but think the idiot that continually rails against this property, even though it is always kept clean and painted and you can't see the roof from the street, would go on his endless rant about how the rich and famous movie star is making his neighborhood a slum.

It is most likely some of his friends that are doing this type of graffiti all over town.

Hope PBSO catches the perps soon and makes them rub the paint off with their nose.

  3. I would imagine that the Herald won't encourage people to sue me for posting that comment. LOL

LOL. I agree! Regardless of who owns this property , this needs to be cleaned up. It's not good that our property owners need to keep being put to the expense of cleaning up after idiots, but they do. The property owners have 24 hrs to clean this up ,according to city ordinances.

  6. What is sad is Rice who owns it refuses to abide by our laws, a building is only supposed to be boarded up for one year then must either be rehabbed or demolished. Why is rice able to skirt the law? Why are people on his side when he is the law breaker along with all these hoodlums that paint all this graffiti around town bringing our city down. Really how is rice any better than the ones painting the graffiti? He certainly has contributed to a lot of blight, vagrancy, and deplorable conditions, due to his eye sore. Rice is worse as he should know better, he is working the system and uses his power and fame to skirt the law. If he wants respect, he needs to earn it by addressing his blight!

  7. why do you side with a law breaker Rice? He is the one bringing down our neighborhood and city? He seems to think he is above the law, why is this right?

  8. Thanks Lynn for staying on top of these blight issues, this place has been en eye sore for years, yet that owner never really does anything, complacency, and then we wonder why there is this graffiti, drug dealers, and loiters hanging out behind there trashing the place all the time. Greg needs to step up to plate once and for all.

  9. The quote you have below on this blog from Harry Reid, "You can be, I guess, as immoral and dishonest as your money will allow you to be.”

    ~ Harry Reid

This might explain and be the reason and is appropriate as to why this property owner just does what he wants and leaves his place so blighted. So sad in our society when we have the rich doing this to others.

  10. Any bets on that? Scott, get Katie to volunteer again. Maybe she will give you the courtesy of a reply.

  11. Thats a historical building and can't be torn down.
Take a look around town and you will find houses that still have blue tarps on the roof from 2005. Blaming the owner for criminals vandalizing his property is crazy.

  12. 3:45 are you trying to be serious here? An historical building? This is not a comedy blog. Can't be torn down? Ask Vinny the Dozer about that one.

Unfortunately many of the abandoned and boarded up houses are attracting the Homeless, prostitutes and other criminals. The owner does have responsibility whenever anyone trashes his property.

  14. GO TO THIS FACEBOOK PAGE-

"im starting a new mafia gang called FTP (f the police) pls join n do your own FTP picture and hope to become the strongest mafia gang =] and make your Mafia Experience the best it can be."

    This could be the culprits.

  15. Well, if FTP means fukd the police, then Greg Rice uses the same acronym but, fkd the people, he could give a damn about the people in this city, that neighborhood, or our city as a whole, his actions speak louder than any words. I say we say FGR! That is what they should put on his building. Very very sad that he can never assume responsibility for his eye sore that attracts so much crime in our great little city. Stop passing the buck Mr. Rice, take action and be responsible. :-( you make us very sad

  16. Gee, maybe not 24 hours later but within a couple days the owner painted over it, like he has every time someone else tagged it. He keeps it clean even though his neighbors throw chairs and other debris on the roof. Those same neighbors hold illegal cook outs every weekend. Maybe someone should call the health department on them. Maybe the complaints about this property would then stop.

Lynn, it is actually a very old and historic building. The inside would make a wonderful art studio or pub or taco stand.

As long as he keeps up the property, and we have many worse....... MANY and MUCH WORSE properties in Lake Worth in our residential neighborhoods and even on Dixie, this one is no where near the top offenders.

GR has done more for the city than the anonymous poster could ever hope to do and continues to be a fantastic ambassador for Lake Worth.

Plus he supports taking Lake Worth forward.

  17. LOL Rice! Your actions speak louder then your words on this dumpy place, it is the worst place west of Dixie in this neighborhood, yes seems historic, but the minute developers offer you millions for it, you will figure out a way then to tear it down to build up, whether you have to break more laws or not, yes, going forward in Lake Worth rice, you will never be an ambassador for us, speak for yourself. I don't think rice will ever go down in history as being a Jesus or Mother Theresa, maybe a Judas or Carnegie. Mr rice makes me sad and I pity him for his poor character and lack of responsibility and respect for his neighbors who live next to this blight.
