Customer robbed at Brogues Lake Worth
Comment Up
Woman robbed (necklace ripped off her neck) while dining outside at Brogues Downunder. Crime is out of control. Click on link below to view the suspects.
Why is the commission not addressing the escalating crime in our city? Why ALL THE SILENCE? All you little COMMISSIONER pundits that have something to say about everything else, where is YOUR OUTRAGE? Where is the concern? Did you find another rug to sweep it all under?
Every once in a while I do see PBSO patrolling our downtown on foot, but they really need to have foot/bike patrol in the downtown all the time. I'm surprised the business leaders are not making a bigger stink to the commission. These types of crimes are very, very bad for business. I myself will think twice about eating downtown outside now. These criminals could have just as easily have grabbed a purse or a credit card when a customer was paying the bill, etc.
I think this little skank tried to pan handle me earlier in the day !(Around 3:00) She was outside a restaurant counting pennies at a table-asked me for a dollar for "bus fare". Why didn't the hostess sitting outside the restaurant tell her to move on or call the cops ?
Lynn, I don't see the point of the commission publicly making this a big deal. Crime is happening in West Palm and other cities all the time and you don't see those city commissioners making public statements about it. Instead they work behind the scenes with staff and PBSO. That makes more sense to me. Also, I don't blame any commissioner for the increase in crime. That can happen no matter who is in charge. Unless we have cops walking around day and night you can't stop this type of crime. We can however call PBSO whenever we see anything suspicious in our neighborhoods and look out for each other.

What a load of crap.City Commissioner Andy Amaroso and City manager Mike Bornstein can single out private citizens and make fun of them in a city commission meeting, but this group can't get their mouths around one word to call the P.B.S.O in for some explanations on the crime rotting this city ? You have the homeless setting up their wares on blankets in alcoves in our downtown, Panhandling , etc. and NOTHING is done about it. Why pay rent to land lords in this city. Just set up your table anywhere you want in our down town and start selling your wares. Mr. Bornstein, NO ONE will buy the arts in your downtown destination if they are accosted by dirty ,scummy lowlifes every few feet. People with money to spend will be too afraid to come downtown. Maybe that's the real long-term plan for Lake Worth. Drive out all the down town merchants and put up row after row of 65 feet (or more) condos. THINK OF THE TAX REVENUES !!!!
This weekend as I was walking to the green market, I was hassled and hounded by two homeless guys who had just left a feeding by the fountain at the foot of the bridge. The feeding was taking place there b/c of the Easter Egg Hunt in Bryant Park.
It really made me feel uncomfortable and nervous. I was by myself and I felt very unsafe in my own city. I almost turned around and abandoned my walk to the green market. Of course the feeding volunteers did nothing. I would have called the police but I did not have my phone with me.
They were walking over to the Snook Island area, another treasure in our city that I rarely go to anymore b/c of our homeless problem.
Jes H it is ridiculous in this town. Now we cna't wear jewelry and feel safe on our city street? Wehre are the cops?

ReplyDeleteThere is some reason why Lake Worth is ranked number 42 out of 100 for top crime cities in the United States. Stop giving excuses.
