Irrelevancy in Lake Worth

Comment Up

When you consider that there is less and less on the agenda at public meetings and the city manager NEVER gives a report and the commissioners NEVER give a report on their travel or what's going on in their districts, important city business must be going on behind the scenes out of the Sunshine. How else do you explain it? How do you run a city with this budget and NEVER learn a thing? The Palm Beach Post doesn't even report on Lake Worth anymore and it has an editor who lives here. Channel 12 is our only hope and even they have been quiet lately. Does the CM act as a conduit by meeting with one commissioner telling him what's going on and what his plans are and then meets with the next one, and so on and so on all the while passing on the outcome of those meetings from one commissioner to the other?

Three of the commissioners are running again. You have to wonder why.  Is it those campaign contributions from Jet Port II LLC of $450 to Amoroso? What pony do they have in the race? Is there a connection with Jet Port II LLC and Sun Recycling, the company we finally kicked out of Lake Worth for ruining our landfill? Triolo and Amoroso are working in tandem, erecting their election signs at the same locations.  Back in 2012, candidate Jim Stafford took a contribution from Jet Port and listed it as coming from an "attorney." Maybe no one knows what or who Jet Port is.  Read more.  Is building up a campaign war chest a way of paying to fill up your gas tank?

Tomorrow night the agenda is full of NOTHING. They will be setting the election ballot.  Even that will be a bore unless miraculously someone comes forward to run. Voters here are getting used to being irrelevant. Don't bother choking down your dinner to get there on time. This meeting will last about one-half hour. It might go down as the shortest meeting in history.  No joke.

  1. It's all depressing. Even the paver crowd should be upset with their non-action. In the meantime, my street looks like a third world country.

  3. I think that people are so disgusted with all the dysfunction, they are no longer interested. It's really impossible to fight putrefaction. :)

  4. " In the meantime, my street looks like a third world country."

Well make sure you voice your opposition to any road improvements every time the present commission proposes such improvements.

And make sure to support all efforts to embrace the cultures of foreign immigrants and try to emulate them so that we may become more like them.

  5. What's the commission doing about all this "diversity?" All of these cultures that hang-out on our city streets? What????????????????????? it seems that it is they who are doing the "embracing." They have written off the western community and drive by with blinders on and then tell the residents to go out on neighborhood clean-ups to solve their problem.

  6. It seems to me it was a different Commission that wanted all the Diversity, with Training Centers, and Mayan Council. Now it is this Commission that is left cleaning up their mistakes.

  7. How are they "cleaning up" anything, anonymous? We have the illegals here so what can be done about it? They are STILL hanging out at the top of Lake avenue and this commission has been in power for 27 months now. Getting worse. Maybe you can ask Jeff Clemens, the guy who was the swing vote on the Mentoring Center.

Last nights meeting.I have also noticed that when the people you support no one misses the meeting they are there to Congratulate, wished well, and hope they could work together. That's called manners.

  10. By saying what you did, anonymous, just shows you have NO manners.
The meeting was going to be short and I had another meeting to attend although I don't know why I am explaining anything to an anonymous snarky poster such as yourself.
Congratulate them for what? If they had actually won an election, that's one thing...sliding in is another. Maxwell wasn't there. Tell him his manners stink. :)
