Let's fly, let's fly away

Although driving on I-95 in south Florida is a scary experience at times--cars weaving in and out, cutting in too  close or riding your bumper when you are obeying the speed laws, raising the speed limit by 5 miles an hour on highways of 4 lanes or more just passed the Senate Transportation Committee of which Jeff Clemens is a member. The vote was 6 to 1. Some restraint was shown when the committee excluded south Florida's I-95.

Sen Arthenia Joyner from District 19, the lone dissenter said it was "like turning Florida Highways into the speed limit free German autobahn."  All that this bill will do is get someone to their destination a few minutes sooner or the driver will end up being a statistic as Florida is one of the worst states for laws affecting driver safety according to a study group.  Couple this with someone smoking Clemens medical marijuana should that bill pass, I can well imagine that Florida highway driving will be a bigger challenge than it already is.
