Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell

Comment Up

Just when I was thinking that no candidate for reelect was even considering or thinking about the March elections other than Amoroso, Scott Maxwell announces a fundraiser at Brogues. Unless some are being very secretive, I still have not heard of a challenger running in this city against any one of the three incumbents. Everyone is just about disgusted with local politics.  Prospective candidates and write-in candidates have until February 11th by Noon to file the proper documentation.

  1. We need good people to run against Maxwell and this crowd of commissioners. The time is now to jump in. You don't have to be perfect. Y.ou really just have to love our downtown AS IT IS and have a pulse. The People Will Back You.

  2. Scott will not get my vote or a dime from me. He lies and does nothing, look at this blight. Yes, we need a good candidate, I think Lynn Anderson should run against Scott she would be great. We need people who will listen to the people and vote our will. Scott doesn't care about us! Scott, please don't knock on my door.

  4. If you ask people on the host committee why they are supporting Scott and what he has done for them. They say he actually has done nothing but at least he is not the other side. Quite a mess we are in.

  5. Those on the host committee will get to pay for all the new infrastructure in this city. Lucky them and lucky city--all very deserving. Who is the other side? Those who voted to keep our downtown lowrise?

  6. Scott doesn't knock on doors. Be serious. The only door is at Dave's last Resort.

  7. It's time to step up and run. You. Yes, you. Or if you really can't, then recruit a neighbor or friend, and help gather support for that person by talking to other neighbors and friends. C'mon. Let's throw these commissioners out. They're arrogant and don't listen to the people. We deserve better.

  8. As former mayor Rene Varela once said, Politics is a blood sport. He found that out early and ran from town.

We need younger people to get involved or even attend city commission meetings to understand, first-hand, what is going on. Even commission meetings are brief with decisions being made behind the scenes that affect us. Policies have changed to the detriment of the citizen and all we see is no change. Slum, blight and one of the most dangerous cities in which to live and they worry about bonfires on the beach.

I, too, wish people would step up and run. No one should be able to slide into office like Szerdi and Maxwell did and what appears that all three will do this March.

    People, step up!
