Well, our shuffleboard court building needs to be used for something as the city of Lake Worth turned it over to the CRA. "They" keep telling us we need to celebrate cultural diversity. Isn't it all this diversity that has caused the slum, blight and crime in this city? Bring your Spanish language dictionary.
Being the conservative I am, I am quite aware that we are a nation of immigrants. Italians, Greeks, Brits, Irish and Africans. Those who came before us spoke different languages and as time passed, their children or if not themselves melded into our more perfect nation.
ReplyDeleteThat is what you should be celebrating. This is just the next wave. The last came into the Northeast and spread out. This one is coming from the Southwest and doing the same.
Within these groups, there will be lower class individuals and families and those not wishing to assimilate into our culture. I think those are the ones you criticize. But there are also people who wish to grow into our culture. Most already speak more languages than I can.
Maybe there is something we can learn from these people too.
Keeping an
"us versus them" mentality won't endear our new neighbors to our way of living. It will only widen the divide.
It IS an US vs THEM mentality--I don't like criminals spunging off the citizens of this country. I don't understand why anyone supports illegal immigration. I can learn all I need from reading books and I don't feel less adequate because I speak English only, the official language of this State.

ReplyDeleteMany of our neighbors are as much citizens as you or I. Yes, some are here illegally and if they cause problems need to be deported. They also should receive no taxpayer benefits. If they are criminals, they should get the same treatment as any other criminal.
Everyone complains about the weather but no one does anything about it..... why???? Because you can't.
So you might as well see what you can do to enjoy it.
They are not ALL here illegally. They are not ALL criminals.
So I welcome ALL that are here legally or want to become US citizens and assimilate to our culture.
Jennings and Golden wanted to get as many illegals here to find ways to break our city. They came close to succeeding.
