Car thefts and vandalism increase

Comment Up

It seems that the car thieves are out in full blast. Neighborhood president, Robert Waples, reports another casing for a car theft that took place again in the ROLOH neighborhood at 914 Wright Drive. Many of our neighbors leave cars here during the summer months as they are snowbirds but you don't have to be a snowbird to be victimized.

This is how the thief does it: A vehicle pulls up and knocks on the door over several days and different times to ascertain that the home is unoccupied.

Last night it was an SUV with a black male who was caught casing the house and hid behind bushes. There must be signs that the owners are not in residence, i.e. shutters on the windows. Neighbors have been keeping an eye on the house. PBSO has informed Robert that they will increase patrols.

If you see someone suspicious in your neighborhood, call PBSO 688-3000.

  1. Hello, I would like suggest installing train horn alarm of doors so load whole city will hear this sound. Easy install or electrician can do job for not much money worth every dollar. Cut 2x4 wood and put in sliding door and windows. Put lights on photo cell timer off on at night time. Please disconnect car battery and take out leaving for holiday, very easy and not cost money. I do this and feel no worries traveling.
