Quote of the day - Michael Bornstein

Comment Up
“We are a public corporation, and we need to know what our citizens think about how we’re doing.”

~ Michael Bornstein, City Manager of Lake Worth

Talking about the City Survey that is on-line at www.lakeworth.org. I would like to know who thought up the choices. Read the PBPost article.

Actually, our city is incorporated and we are a municipal corporation.  Lake Worth was incorporated as the "Town of Lake Worth" in June 1913 and as everyone knows, we are celebrating out Centennial this year.

A municipal corporation is a city, town, village, or borough that has governmental powers. A public corporation is a corporation owned by members of the public by virtue of their having purchased shares in its ownership on the open market.

  1. I took the survey a little bit ago but think they should have emphasized slum, blight and crime much more than they did. Instead redevelopment popped out at you and you just knew that this was their priority, not cleaning u0 the neighborhoods.

  2. The idea is for our commissioners up for re-election to use the data collected as a basis for their campaigns. Then they don't have to actually talk to residents, or spend campaign money to gather information. They just use our tax dollars. The city manager apparently plans to provide them with this information each January. Just in time for their March election campaigns. They took this opportunity to mislead residents into believing that their electric rates would be in line with FPL in 5 years. Pretty good way to hi-jack taxpayer money for their own personal benefit. Isn't that the tea party republican way??!!
The city manager is a dope. He has accomplished nothing in one year. Back to business as usual. The progressives will have to clean out city hall again soon.

  4. remember the electric rate is only part of the utility bill. there are many add ons which fuel the operating budget. this is why city hall does not want to sell the utility.

  5. The most interesting thing lately is that this commission does not want to have a study done to find out what the utility is even worth but they secretly want to sell it. I don't want to sell it.

  6. I've been trying to get a meeting with the City Manager (or even an assitant) for almost a year. Despite emailing each month I get no response. Nice way to treat tax payors.
