When driving back from The Farmer Girl this afternoon, we ran into the aftermath of a wreck on Dixie and Lucerne. It seems that the fire department was on its way to a fire in the 700 block of South “E” Street in Lake Worth when a car slammed into the fire truck. Glass and parts of the car were strewn around and the driver was sent to Delray Medical. No other injuries were reported.
UPDATE: Read PBPost article.
Wow. If they can't see a friggin fire truck then what chance do the rest of us have?!?
ReplyDeleteHere we go- another illegal speeding around town in the community car. Does anybody think she had insurance? Right. Three of our fire fighting finest will now retire to Florida on full disability benefits for the rest of our,I mean THEIR, lives. Wait, they ALREADY ARE IN FLORIDA ! At least that will make getting to the golf course each day much more convenient for the three wounded heroes.
ReplyDeleteBottom line- The real injured parties in this story are all of us out here reading it!!!
It seems like it was the perfect storm for a crash--fire truck crossing an intersection while car heading north on Dixie with the green light that can't see the truck at that corner. Fire truck should have been more cautious at it entered the intersection perhaps? Car should have slowed or stopped and moved to the right? Whose fault it will be will be determined. Was there any witnesses beside the firemen?
ReplyDeleteFrom the damage, looks like that car was going much faster than the 35 mph posted speed limit in that area.
ReplyDeleteThat fire truck weighs 10 times that little vehicle. It would not have had a chance.
