Senior falls and injures herself at Lake Worth beach parking lot

Comment Up
A Senior citizen, heard screaming in the upper parking lot last night at Lake Worth beach got the attention of the Mulligan's employee who was hired to take passengers from the lot to the restaurant by golf cart. George Hart, owner, felt it was too far for people to walk especially the elderly.

The incident happened around 7:00pm. The woman, 84 years old, was looking for the parking meter in the pitch dark, walked through bushes and fell and "broke open her face" according to a third party. Taken by ambulance, we do not know the details at this time.

City Manager Bornstein has admitted that the parking lot is one year behind schedule. There is still a lack of lighting. Mulligan's has devised some emergency temporary lighting so that their customers can see.  The City says it wants Mulligans' lighting all permitted.

  1. How much will it cost to adequately light the parking lot for the customers of the casino?
Since we own the casino and the parking lot, do we have adequate insurance in case we are sued for these and other incidents?

  2. Here we go again! I bet that person is now going to seek an attorney to file a suit against LW... isn't that the norm?

  3. Buy solar lawn lights that will glow at night for a cheap quick fix. This is insanity - we the people need to buy a bunch and just stick them in the ground NOW.

  4. You better be careful Lynn. The woman that fell is going to use your blog as evidence so the city loses another lawsuit.

  6. What is an 85 y.o. doing driving in the first place and at night and unescorted.IMO she wont have a case to sue anybody.Pure stupidity on her part.

  7. Not everyone is senile at 85. Grow the heck up.

  8. Its not the idea that she is senile. She was alone, driving and in a dark place. She could have been mugged.

  9. Above poster. You are part of the problem of 85 year olds that arent capable of driving.Slow reflexes, and not having enough common sense to go in dark places alone. She could have been mugged.Maybe not. She probably had a 357 pistol in her purse.

  10. Ok, anyone can get mugged. Reactions are quicker when you are young. Someone should feel completely safe on our beach.

  11. Post at 1:25 pm.Its the idea she was alone in the dark. You should feel safe most every where. But not in LW and during these times when some undesirable is looking for free money, etc. They could have taken her purse and stole her car.

  12. I have a 92 year old friend who drives and is in perfect health. Many elderly people have health issues; others do not. Please don't lump all of them in the same basket. The fact of the matter is--she could not see in the dark. She's not an owl. :)

  13. The point was that she was alone at that age, not that she may have been able to drive. Warning, dont go with an 90 year old if they drive.Your life is in there hands.

  14. Come on Lynn, you must know that anybody of 80 has less reaction time that when they were 60. Its a fact that even you should know even if they are in perfect health.

  15. As a Senior citizen, I am a little sensitive to the issue. We all begin to slow down around age 30. Getting older doesn’t have to result in cognitive decline, however, if you work to address it. In the case of older citizens, most often it is their vision, especially at night.

  17. It could have been a 35 year old falling, you does age in story? This is the same knee-jerk reaction that Mrs Mulvehill wrote on blog when the women was found in trash bag.

There is no pattern or history, another no-story, spreading fear.
