I am sorry, I do not agree with this quote by Allen West, very narrow minded of him and disrespectful of people in this country that do not have the same freedoms. He is clueless. Gays do not have all the same rights and freedoms as heterosexuals have. Gays cannot marry in most states, not have rights to bring bi-national partners to the USA like heterosexuals can now, gays cannot file taxes jointly, gays just do not have the same rights and freedoms, always persecuted, always treated like freaks by some. Allen West forgets about all of this, he maybe is happy that he just cannot be discriminated against or treated differently, although gays still are today, gays are not free, we are not free to marry who we want, when we want, from where ever we want, we have to suffer and pay a high cost to be out and/or be together with the person we love. Gays are still not completely blessed or are free, like West touts, he forgets about this group of people, shame on him. This offends me. Gays need to fight even harder now with Obama for full gay rights to be able to do and receive every benefit that heterosexuals and heterosexual couples now receive. Gays deserve full and equal equality in this country, no exceptions.
There are many people who believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. There are actually some Gays who believe this as well. Allen West does not forget about Gays. He served with them, not only in the military but in congress. He believes 100% in the Constitution and God.
Further to that, Allen West is very familiar with discrimination. It was only less than 5 decades ago that the Civil Rights Act came into effect. Blacks were always treated like 2nd class citizens. You are lumping all people of a Party into one mold. would wager to say that there are plenty of Democrats who are prejudiced. It wasn't that long ago when Obama said that marriage was between a man and a woman.
He said that you are blessed with the freedom to pursue your dreams. Isn't that what you want, anony? You're speaking out on it, aren't you? You wouldn't be allowed to do that in some societies. Don't go to a Muslim country--they hate gays and you would have no protection and no freedom.
I can't think of one person who would disagree with you, anonymous as everyone either has a gay friend, or has one in his/her family. You have all the rights of heterosexuals so you must be talking about marriage specifically? Is that the issue or are there more? Has the church been a hindrance in that respect? Thanks for your comment.
"Patriots" are not forced to resign from the army in order to keep their government funded pensions. Isn't is strange that man that is so outspoken against people that depend on the government has 2 pensions and his healthcare paid for by the government? He's totally dependent on the government. Kind of like a certain local blogger.

I'm not getting a hand-out from government. I contributed to social security for 40 years.
ReplyDeleteAllen West laid his life on the line for this country. He deserves everything he gets just like any other vet.
Stop playing your ridiculous games. Or are you stupid? I think it's the latter.
