Now that Obama has won again, those residing in the State of Florida won't have any recourse on Obamacare. You will have to buy it or pay a penalty. Puzzling as it was, the voters said so on November 6 when it voted down Amendment 1 by 51.46% that essentially was going to give you a choice. Now you have none. The amendment was basically only about sending Washington a message to exempt Floridians from being required to purchase Obamacare as federal law would have trumped our Constitutional amendment anyway, especially now that Obama has been re-elected.
If in the future the health care law is repealed or changed in some way, Amendment 1 would have prevented the requirement of Floridians to purchase it or pay a penalty of $2,085 a year per family or 2.5% of income, whichever is greater. And strangely, citizens voted down Amendment 1 and sending the message to Washington. They voted to take away a freedom of choice. They ignored the Constitution and voted to cut their own throats.
Is Obamacare an illegal power grab by the federal government that tramples the Constitution and undermines the principles of federalism? Three states must have thought so as Obamacare was on the ballot in those states and the outcome was totally different where voters actually considered their individual rights and freedom--
In Alabama, 59% of voters approved of Amendment 6, which amended their state Constitution to “prohibit any person, employer, or health care provider from being compelled to participate in any health care system.”
In Montana, 65% of voters approved of an act that prohibited the State or Federal government from being able to force anyone to buy health insurance. The act also prohibits any penalties from being levied on anyone who chooses not to purchase health insurance.
Wyoming passed a measure that stated, “No federal or state law, rule or administrative decision shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer or health care provider to participate in any health care system” where voters actualy thought about their rights.
