Susan Stanton new City Manager of Greenfield, California

Comment Up

Former city manager of Lake Worth, Susan Stanton, was just appointed city manager of Greenfield, California tonight. As you know, she was fired in Lake Worth on a political 3 to 2 vote.

Susan Stanton was identified as the most suitable candidate among more than 70 people who applied for the position, interim City Manager Brent Slama said. She will begin serving November 12. According to the city’s agenda, the salary for the position is $145,000 a year which is only $5,000 less than she was making here plus a three bedroom house. The vote was 5/0 unlike Lake Worth's which was 4/1 with Retha Lowe dissenting.

Greenfield is located in the heart of the Salinas Valley, approximately 135 miles south of San Francisco, 95 miles south of San Jose and 60 miles north of Paso Robles. It is located in one of the developing wine grape growing regions of California with over twenty vineyards and wineries within a thirty mile radius, several of which have tasting rooms and offer a wide selection of wines for sale.

Greenfield is the second most populous city in the Salinas Valley and is the fifth most populous city in Monterey County.

  1. I'm happy for her. I'm ecstatic for California, and I'm doing cartwheels for Lake Worth.

  2. I am sure that Stanton is also ecstatic that she doesn't have to be around someone as toxic as you. She loved this city and put up with those who were against her because of being transgendered. She had a lot to overcome...you were obviously one of them.

  3. Lynn, please don't be so one sided in your thinking. Ms. Stanton was not a very nice person to all citizens, she could come across as very rude, condescending and had a bad attitude often to many. It had nothing to do with her transgenderness, it was her and her attitude and how she treated others, period. She may have been nice to you, but wasn't to all of us, stop acting like she was. Time will tell, I hope she learned a lot and has success and is happy.

  4. Good luck to Ms. Stanton. For her sake, I hope that she is not walking into a situation as difficult as the one she walked into in lake Worth.

  5. I believe she is walking into a difficult situation as far as their finances are concerned but she is the one who can turn that around. Hopefully, it will not be a city full of haters and she will just be allowed to do the job for which she was hired.

Mary- I am very aware of Stanton's attitude...she never would have won Ms. Congeniality but it takes a strong personality to get things done. As one of her supporters, she could even get disappointed with me when I disagreed. So, I have never looked at her through rose colored glasses no matter what you may think.

  6. She'll be there 6 months.
Will you still blame Scott Maxwell?

  7. Oh, probably. LOL.
She was here for 32 months in spite of the bully Maxwell. So, she doesn't have him out there to lead the charge against her so I would imagine that her tenure will be longer.

  8. California is a lot more left leaning and progressive than we are here, but you think there aren't more Maxwell's out there in the world? Hold out for that hope that her tenure will be longer there.

  9. Good Riddance! The damage has already been done by Stanton and this city has never looked so bad. I've never seen so many pot holes and Stop signs and street signs look this bad in all my 50yrs living in Lake Worth. That's what happens when you shut down the Traffic and Streets Departments. Also the Parks look like crap since the mass layoffs from Stanton. So thank you Stanton you did such a great job here in Lake Worthless.

  10. Get real! Why don't you have Bornstein hire a bunch more people to take care of your every desire.

Wed have had an unusual amount of rains over the last 3 months. Expect potholes.

Stanton has been gone for over 10 months. Give us all a break.

  11. Lynn, That is possibly THE most flattering picture of her out there. Did you photoshop it?

Hope she's wearin that smile and brushing up on her Spanish out there in Greenfield, CA. Pop. 15,000

Her predecessor was there about 3 years and they've been looking since March.

If a town half our size without a cash cow can afford to pay her just $5k less than here, no wonder California is in such bad shape financially.

Realistically, with the cost of living there, that salary equates to about 1/2 to 2/3 of what her salary was here.

  12. Gosh, you take some time to do some research on a person you hate? Why not find better things to do. Don't know the cost of living out there but they are giving her a FREE house to live in and the town is pretty, not full of slum and blight..
P.S. This photo is untouched. Don't know how nor do I use Photoshop.
P.P.S. Maybe you call Christopher McVoy something else, but the rest of us refer to him as Christopher, his name.

Keep fishin. Oh, and work on that charming personality of yours. :)
