This is shocking and not a surprise, this guy is a joke anyway, created this company, Compass, for his own profit, making millions off the government for funding from grants and private donation, he knows how to work the system, he only cares about himself, no one, not the gays, not AIDS, he is a disgrace to the gay community and the world. He needs our prayers. He is greedy and corrupt and a big drunk.
Lake Worth Gay Leader Arrested, Charged With DUI
Tony Plakas, head of the Lake Worth not-for-profit gay community group, COMPASS, was arrested on October 11 after running a stop sign, almost hitting another SUV on North Dixie Highway, weaving into oncoming traffic, and running up on the curb on Forest Hill Road at Norton Avenue.
"Upon initial contact, the driver appeared to have a blank stare, as if looking through me," the Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy wrote in his report. He described the driver's eyes as "glossy" and "bloodshot red" and unable to focus. He also noted a strong odor of alchohol.
"The driver appeared very confused and advised that he was on his way to pick up his brother caused (sic) he received a call."
Plakas fumbled pulling out his driver's license and handed one to the deputy that wasn't his. It turned out to be his partner's. The deputy asked for the correct driver's license, which he had seen in the wallet, and after he had it in hand, proceeded to arrest Plakas for DUI, or Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs.
Plakas, age 40, is the so-called CEO of COMPASS, a not-for-profit organization that has a large community center in a bright blue building at 201 North Dixie Highway, just across from the new Publix.
"Compass Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Lake Worth and the Palm Beaches aims to diminish stereotypes by challenging long-standing misconceptions about the character of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community," it says on the organization's web site.
Plakas was processed and released on his own recognizance.
Scott you obviously know tony plastered plakas well. It is pathetic that the city outsted our seniors for an organization that has a joke for a CEO. He is not a leader in the gay community. It is a contadiction that someone who is so good at being a gay stereotype be the one to help diminish the stereotypes that plague their community. They should change their mission statement or their CEO. He needs a lot more than prayer. A good criminal lawyer would be a start on his needs list.
Lynn you should really try to alter your writing style. Some of the "anonymous" comments are obviously you. It's your use of the "our seniors" line. "our beach" "our low rise city". Kind of like when you post comments like "Lynn you are a person in the know" anonymously then post the same line on Mary's blog. "Mary you are a person in the know". "the city ousted our seniors for an organization that has a joke for a CEO". You do know of course THE COUNTY built a new center on Lake Worth Rd. and THAT'S why OUR seniors moved in. The move had nothing to do with the city ousting anyone. You can hate all you want but please try to tell the truth occasionally.
anonymous--I'm glad you have it all figured out. You are flat wrong as usual. What post do you think I wrote anyway? I write the damn blog and I think that's quite enough instead I waste time answering someone who thinks they have it all figured out. I get an average of 1200 hits a day. There are people who have their own ideas on stuff. The problem in this city is that everyone is a critic; everyone thinks they have the answers and most of you don't do the research and what's worse, you carry on the myths.
