  4. This primitive, presumptious action, is so transparent!Look at me,look at me,look at me!!!
is behind this cheap arroagnt trick.Did any Pioneer-founders of Lake Worth answer? He is the strongest opponent of the REAL Lake Worth Branding 1921 Lake Worth Casino, recreation as it will bring millions in revenue to the City, lost by the CRA wrongly districted in our Downtown District. Maxwell's redistricting of the CRA into its" appropriate District, Lake Worth's most blighted area to fullfill its' mission to alleviate blight, would be a usefull act. Increase our taxbase. This look at me!!! look at me!!!! character is the one who wants to spend more of OUR taxmoney by taking 4 Commissionn members of his choice to the useless League of City's meeting.Costing us thousands, while this Commission has a $7 million Deficit. Not one of the traveling drift wood, ever returned with a single useful project or suggestion!Proving wasted money, and that this circus act should be discontinued!Go ahead bankrupt the City! That is pretty cheeky!Who is in charge?Analizes expenses before approving waste???

  5. This coment shows deep insight into the useless nature of this Commission member! What has he done to alleviate the $7,000,000,- Deficit? Why did he not collect our Waste treatment fees from our 7 surrounding Cities, now totalling $13,584,000? He has never returned with one single useful project or suggestion form the Circus of the League of Cities.(They are corrupt and cost taxpayers millions with their CON games!Cease these useless trips which cost us taxpayers money.Maxwell wants to show us how he has no respect whatsoever for the Citizens and the new mayor whom he constantly tries to upstage!!!. .He resumed our seat UNOPPOSED!

  6. Sounds like the POLITICS OF DISTRACTION. Just in case the charter amendment issue goes on the ballot in November (letting the people decide our city’s future). . . better have something else to take away focus from the serious issue at hand.

One might think it’s an April Fools Day joke, or that Comm. Maxwell has too much free time on his hand. Change the name of the City right before the Centennial? Yes, that sounds very reasonable indeed. What a great idea, Mr. Vice Mayor.

While we’re at it, why not give the voters a multiple choice question, or hold a contest to come up with the best name? I might suggest:

    (A) The City of Lake Worth, Florida (or TCOLWFL)
-- that will certainly distinguish it from generic “Lake Worth”
    (B) Palm Beach County Beach (protected by PBSO & PB Fire & Rescue!)
--Or should we wait until we sell LW Utilities to FP&L to make it official?
    (C) Lucerne, Florida (wasn’t that the other original name from our history?)
--then turn “The Lucerne” into City Hall, tear City Hall & build a skyscraper there
    (D) LaWo – Home of the LuLa District
--the CRA can get a grant to pay for costs of changing signs, documents, etc.
    (E) The City Formerly Known as Lake Worth (my favorite)
--but instead of words, use the palm tree symbol, like musician Prince did
    (F) Force media, post office, etc. to stop using term “Lake Worth” incorrectly
--call it UIPBC, or “Western Lake Worth” or “Suburban Lake Worth”

But seriously folks, this is no joke!

In my opinion, it looks like Maxwell is getting “advice” from former commissioner & chamber of commerce hot shot Nadine Burns. (Notice it’s no longer called the Lake Worth COC, since it represents interests far beyond our city boundaries.)

For those who don’t know or remember, Ms. Burns used a similar tactic (putting a non-issue on the March ballot) as a last hurrah on her way out of City Hall --and now we’re stuck with November elections during national campaigns, when the rest of PB County holds local elections in March.

Way to go, Scott --you did a great job. You distracted me from the serious issues at hand for a few minutes. Do you & your supporters plan to FILIBUSTER tonight’s commission meeting to address this name-change topic ad naseum? (I notice this is Item A under New Business.) Do you hope that supporters of Commissioner Mulvehill’s Charter Amendment ballot initiative (Item B on the Agenda) will get sick & tired of your BS & go home before they get a chance to talk about something important to our City’s future? Just wondering. --Beth

  8. For our 100th ,lets change the name! Are you kidding? For a guy that likes to scream "WE'RE BROKE " all the time,Maxwell obviously gave no thought to the very real cost and inconvieniece to every business and person in this city.Maxwell, out of all the stupid moves you've made ,this one takes the cake!Thank God we have some good people over here in the forgotten western part of town that are willing to run against you!PLEASE Take your family, move to West Palm and then you can get a seat next to Shannon Materio. You would be a matching pair of idiots.

  11. anonymous--No guts, NO glory!
Did I say anything against Scott Maxwell on this particular blog? I can't help the fact that he gives me plenty to write about. He does that all by himself.

For the record, anyone posting with their real name and I know you, can say about anything they want (within reason) if it adheres to policy. Thanks.

  12. I think the name change would be great for the city. The beach is our identity as a town and the beach is something we are all proud of. We are one of the few cities tow own our own beach. Why than should we be identified with the same towns near Wellington and west of 95. Why should folks who want to move here see crime statistics that don't represent us but use our name. Why do I need to hear that someone was murdered in Lake Worth and than see the crime seen is near Wellington. We need to become our own city that everyone recognizes by name and this will be a big help.

  13. The name change coinciding with the city's 100th anniversary is a great idea. The name change can be used as a tie in for LAKE WORTH BEACH'S next 100 years.
I'm guessing that if Mulvehill suggested the change you all would be 100% for it?
    Strange.

  14. Anybody with half a brain, sees through this Look at me, Look at me Look at me, ploy, and to get the name in the paper, with a 30 year old picture!

The presumption of one, suggesting a useless act, when they have a $7,000,000,- Budget Deficit,

    by the
do not nothing for the city since 2003 Commission member is pathetic and those who fall for it equally so. ,to bring up a totally useless sugestion is adding to his record of having done nothing constructive for the City.He should send a thank you not to those simple enough not to see through that gimmick, one of many useless ones.
Those falling in with useless passtime in our Commission seats, should receive a thank you note from the clown, because the joke is on those fooled !
