Michael Bornstein, City Manager Lake Worth, speaks at Parrot Cove Neighborhood Association

Comment Up

Last night Michael Bornstein spoke at the Parrot Cove Neighborhood Association meeting that was held at the Believer's Victory Church at 10th Avenue North and Lakeside Drive. He suggested that even the name of the church was some sort of sign.

Coming from what he described as a "cushy job," he is now faced with immediate challenges. Bornstein said "it's like drinking water from a firehose." The most important challenge, of course, is formulating the budget for year 2012/2013, explaining that our millage is only about a point under the maximum allowed by law. He informed the crowd that there was instability at the top and he has plugged the hole. His goal is to make the commission the best leaders possible. We all left feeling that he could do just that.

As Mr. Bornstein said, it's only been 16 days since he first started with Lake Worth. It seems longer and probably does to him as well. If you haven't heard him speak, please take the opportunity to do so. He is charming with a great sense of humor...a real treat.

Mr. and Mrs. Bornstein who soon will move here.
Would you believe that she has a 26 year old?

  1. Instability at the top and he has plugged it?? Right. I don't think the big ego stroke is warranted quite yet. At least Stanton didn't feel the need to put on a Howdy Doody show for us. FYI- leaders aren't made. You either are (you have what it takes) or you aren't. His job isn't to make them leaders. His job is to find a million dollars.
So. Grow up, get a real tie and a firm grip on reality, and get to work.

  3. Michael mentioned that he has been threatened since he was hired as CM. If you notice, the door is back up leading into the executive offices. I would wager a bet that the commission will not insist that he TAKE THE DAMN DOOR DOWN like they did to Stanton. Double standard. Not all people are treated equally.

The door should be up and if he wants it locked, great!

  4. I don't know what door you are talking about. If you mean the one by the rear door to the commission chambers, it was re-installed a week or so after it was taken down. That area does need to be locked only after normal business hours.

So if Michael was threatened already, does that mean his sexual orientation is upsetting some Stanton supporters. Remember, the only reason we "hated" her was that she is transgendered. Had nothing to do with her policies, temper or adding millions of dollars worth of high dollar staff to support her.

Maybe Stanton wasn't the ONLY qualified credentialed award winning leader you think she was.
